What is wrong with "work" under capitalism?💰 That is the question @simonmair.bsky.social explored in his fascinating talk yesterday. He argued that work can be re-oriented away from earning a wage and driving profits, into a tool to solve our biggest social and environmental challenges. 🌎

Yesterday, we hosted a live screening of the People's Emergency Briefing. Throughout the film, UK scientists issued stark warnings about the climate crisis. Here are just a few responses made by our audience members following the film. @nebriefing.bsky.social @sheffielduni.bsky.social
White text on black background reads "The facts were not new to me. But what it did do was highlight the true scale of the problems - and just how bad it will be for my daughters, and their generation.” White text on black background reads, "You’re going to have to act. It’s just whether you act in response to the crisis, or you try to prevent it. Both options are going to have to involve systemic change.”White text on black background reads "Yes, there are the deniers and the delayers and ignorers - the Trump people and the Reform voters and the rest - but there’s a chunk of people in the middle who, if they understood, would act more. we need to try to engage those people.”
