It seemed like too much of a risky trick but the lede amused me. Apparently it’s a huckster supplement/hoax rather than an actual equine-based product.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen something in Walmart that spiritually offended me, but my local store had the knockoff IKEA FRAKTA bags at the checkout, and it was very triggering. IS NOTHING SACRED STOLEN VALOR

important political opinion: if the Canadian federal government is serious about embracing the EU, it will replace the awful new Blues Brothers American thin blue line wannabe livery with some fun and/or silly EU police car nonsense

Grant @grant.monster · 18/09/2026
"Say the line, Bart." There we go. Also, these "to be sure..." columns are so pointless. Yes, people are excited about EU stuff, no, no one thinks this is a golden ticket that solves all our problems, you're arguing against no one.

The magic beans are just over the horizon and we can get them if you just totally ignore investing in climate change, health care, and basic infrastructure!
It feels like we're sitting on the doorstep of ridiculous abundance if we can make this technology go right. The main issue, right now, is entering that world of abundance with moderation. We can just get so excited, rush straight into the self improving thing in the next couple of years, and blow it all up.
If we're careful and sensible, there's a lot of ways to get tremendous value from these models.

The astonishing hubris and delusions of grandeur of these absolute jagoffs. www.wired.com/story/anthro...
article excerpt

Q: You reference this “endgame” scenario in your post, which I’ve heard from other researchers in the AI industry. Do you think that it's generally accepted among your peers at Anthropic that you guys are entering an endgame scenario?

A: Yep. These are actually just literal quotes from my colleagues at Anthropic. They'll say things like “endgame” or “crunch time.” The consensus is that the next year or two is, like, crunch time for humanity. From their perspective, this is when Anthropic and its competitors decide the fate of humanity. That's what we mean by crunch time and endgame.

So tired of Liberals talking about WHAT CANADA STANDS FOR when they aren't interested in acting upon it. Fun to talk tough, but you were *our Ambassador to the UN during the bulk of the invasion of Gaza* and you're saying THIS? www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

This is maximalist, offensive, and deranged. The ONLY thing justifiable here, maybe, is pressing us on the legal principle of "no takebacksies" on the F-35. These are 'do whatever we tell you to do' demands, and intensely hypocritical given the way they protect their agri, defense, etc. sectors.
The U.S. is demanding a right of first refusal on Canadian critical minerals, that Canada complete its purchase of U.S. F-35 fighter jets, that Ottawa buy U.S. tech such as radar planes as part of joining Mr. Trump’s planned Golden Dome missile defence system, and that Washington receive some guarantee on future supplies of oil and gas, one Canadian and one U.S. source said. The deal under discussion would see Mr. Trump lower – but not fully get rid of – his tariffs on Canadian steel, aluminum, autos and forest products, as well as refrain from hitting more products with tariffs on Aug. 19.

In exchange, Canada would eliminate its retaliatory tariffs on U.S. autos, agree to Washington’s interpretation of how dairy quotas should be allocated, and have provincial governments stop their Buy Canadian programs and boycotts of American alcohol, among other things.

Reminder: the Canadian Pension Plan invested *several hundred million dollars* into xAI.
Yet the harm was not stopped then, either. Despite mandatory reporting requirements to share information like a user’s IP address when CSAM is flagged, xAI repeatedly refused to help cops or NCMEC identify the user, the complaint alleged. For weeks, xAI allegedly “obstructed this investigation at every turn” and made it harder for “law enforcement efforts to locate, identify, and apprehend the perpetrator.”

www.cbc.ca/news/politic... “imagery shows massive damage to the site even before [combat], with above-ground structures reduced to rubble.”
No representative of the Canadian government has been able to visit the site, and neither has anyone from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The local Jaradeh family, who have tended the cemetery for four generations, were forced to flee that area as the IDF advanced. They are now in Egypt.

@mcnutt.bsky.social I really liked the summary graf here: bsky.app/profile/laur...
It's naive to think that athletic success and personal virtue go hand and hand.
The lofty ideals of the Olympics don't survive an honest look at the world around them. But still, I think I speak for a lot of hockey fans when I say it would have been nice if these guys had tried to seem a little more decent-at least the Hugheses and others, to keep the Tkachuks looking more like outliers. By not even doing the bare minimum to disassociate from a regime that terrorizes immigrants and demeans women, they make it impossible for any fan with conviction to return to the NHL feeling more excited (or "excited," wink wink) to watch these guys than they were before. They don't seem like the best this country's got, or men who deserve the benefit of the doubt that they'll stick up for what's right. They're the best hockey players, sure. But they also sound pretty ignorant and confused. Well, a lot of Americans are like that, too, l guess.
