This dingus strained a back leg so we can’t run her to exhaustion (Corgis: working dogs what Need a Job) so us getting her to nap on the couch is a major win.

I tried to find the origin of “the existence of vampire weekend implies the existence of vampire unions” and AI summaries are going great.
A Google search AI summary for “vampire weekend implies the existence of vampire unions”:

• Al Overview
That is an excellent point. If there is a vampire weekend, it strongly implies the existence of a vampire union that fought hard for labor rights against ancient, exploitative elders.
Before the union, young vampires were likely working 24/7 graveyard shifts with zero paid time off, dealing with terrible safety hazards like silver-lined coffins and rogue slayers without any

Before they left for college my youngest kid made me a birthday card and left it with @misty.granades.com and here it is with the card’s inspiration.
A Corgi looks at the camera, ears alert, all brown eyes and black nose. I’m holding a small card next to her that has a drawing of her. The drawing is a remarkable likeness of said Corgi.

Mode: SLEEP.
A corgi on her back, her spine twisted so her back legs go one way, her front a second, and her head turned a third way. She squints in her sleep. How even is this creature real?

This dog has three speeds: sleeping; running after balls and other such toys; CRIMES.
A corgi on a wooden floor. She’s sprawled out and giving me all the side eye, probably because the wood in front of her is wet from her licking it, and she knows that that’s crimes.

We’re cleaning up our last kid’s room now that they’re at college and our Corgi is helping.
A Corgi with her head completely under a bed. She has just sighed like the weight of the world is on her shoulders. A Corgi with the front of her body possessively over a body pillow on the floor. She’s serving side-eye, the kind that says that she is up to no crimes.

For my money, this bit in @jeannethornton.bsky.social’s “A/S/L” is the bestest, most saddest expression of going back to a virtual space that was the center of your life decades ago.
From Jeanne Thornton’s book “A/S/L”, an encapsulation of going back to an internet space that was once so important to you and now is abandoned like a mall you’d board up against a zombie attack:

Feedback on my story “Physics by the Numbers”:

I have finished reading your story. overall I didn't enjoy it.
There was no real story. It felt like a collection of random events. You had no central problem that I could see, no obstacle the main character had to overcome.
Like I mentioned there is no focus. The algorithm is interesting but you don't do enough with it to make this worthy of being Sci-fi. It doesn't feel like a sci-fi story at all.
Your writing style and the words you choose in your sentences are clunky and awkward to read. this is the area you need the most work as you story was not entertaining and joyless.

slopbot author spam but make it for interactive narrative designers love the sense of agency I gave players in my story about having dementia
Spam email I received that was clearly written by the slopbot:

Hi Stephen,
I hope you're having a wonderful week.
I've been exploring your work in interactive fiction, and I wanted to reach out and say how much I admire your approach to narrative design. The way you craft systems that feel both technically robust and narratively compelling, especially how you handle complex state-tracking and player agency in your work, is truly impressive and deeply aligns with the vision we have for In The Story.
That same fascination with choice-driven narratives is what inspired my partners and…

Geocities is “how you remember the internet looking” says the 23-year-old who is younger than my first and still existing non-LiveJournal blog, written by me, a mummy crumbling to dust.
From a NYT article about nostalgic design used in modern advertising:

Their nostalgia has taken the form of spinning GIFs, novelty cursors and Windows XP graphics - a hodgepodge of anachronistic elements that Goodspeed describes as "Geocities Neue," after the early web-hosting service. (See also: the cover of "My First Book" by Honor Levy; promotional artwork for the singer-songwriter Audrey Hobert; websites for clothing brands like Praying and Online Ceramics.)
"This is how you remember the internet looking before everything was polished, and 3-D anr incredibly smooth," Aitor, 23, said.

I can tell I’ve been offline because I missed this Chotiner interview, which has the biggest shock ending since The Lottery.
Chotiner: it's hard to fathom

Israeli anchor: I don't have a lot of moments like this. I don't remember someone in modern history who would go with you and do wonderful things, and then suddenly disappear and go against you. So now I am the bad guy? I supported you! I was the good guy! How did I become the bad guy and the Ayatollah is the good guy?

Chotiner: This is why I was wondering whether you had ever observed Donald Trump.

You should absolutely subscribe to 404 Media—they’ve been relentless about Flock’s terrible license plate trackers, regularly FOIA important info that they release freely, and get Amazon to respond to claims their AI tools make slop with absolute slop.
"We're always looking to understand our teams' experiences with various tools - that's how we learn what works for them and what doesn't - and while this handful of comments doesn't reflect what we hear from most Kiro users, we still appreciate the chance to learn from the feedback," Amazon said. "In general, we're seeing incredible improvements in efficiency and delivery from Kiro, which more than 80% of our software developers use. Kiro offers differentiated capabilities that other tools don't provide, particularly in spec-driven development and property-based
testing. [HIGHLIGHTED:] These aren't just incremental improvements—they represent a fundamentally different approach to Al-assisted development that prioritizes production readiness and correctness.

Timeline cleanse: my younger offspring likes to take 0.5 pics of our Corgi, Beef. One of their friends drew this caricature and offspring then showed it to Beef.
A Corgi pencil sketch on a blue post-it. The dog’s head looks huge, with a giant muzzle. The sketch is labeled “BEEF” in puffy letters with sparkles. A grinning Corgi, the muse for the previous drawing, with the drawing on a phone so the dog can marvel at her likeness.
