Plenty of other things to enjoy in it, but a Diary that mentions both Chris Mason and passing wind (are they in some way connected?) has to be a good one. I also look forward to the return of a proper debate on the EU and hope that Mr Pecksniff will be at its heart.

Ignoring the question of why would they ever give him the Peace Prize anyway, Trump conveniently overlooks the fact that the Nobel Commitee is based in Norway but not actually Norwegian! I bet he could still find an excuse to invade the country, though.

Like going off a cliff edge! Seems to indicate where Trump's loyalty really lies.

They are indeed all repulsive. Putin is truly evil, as he commits war crimes each day against the Ukrainian people. Trump oversees a corrupt regime and shows his real allegiance to Russia. And Farage can do us all a favour and fuck off out of the country.

I never have liked Jenrick, but at least there was a time when he was just a slimeball and not the evil bastard that he's morphed into.

He might query how many wars she has stopped compared to him, but I'm sure Trump will be his usual magnanimous self.

That will be the same San Diego that Trump reckons can be destroyed by Iran. Welcome home!

You will be right about the underfunding, and shit certainly happens, but you would hope that a high profile case like this was watertight from the off. Doesn't make Andrew any less of a nonce!

I always worry when mistakes are made with the easy bits, as you aren't then sure if the bigger stuff is being done properly. Someone will have received a serious bollocking for this.

I think it refers to Dave Allen and a presentation he made for a radical comedy series that was way in advance of its time. Only his untimely death stopped this gem from being commissioned.

Fine words from a truly great sci-fi writer (not Musk!).

I've seen this before. Although it looks very Dad's Army, the location of the RH&DR made it a potentially important defensive area.

Brilliant song and film. A man went looking for America and couldn't find it anywhere.

Either her speech writers are taking the piss, or she should be told to stop making off the cuff remarks that make her appear even more stupid than she is. Actually no, let her carry on doing it.

Sir Michael, Mr Hollinrake clearly is a better comedian than politician (although that's a pretty low bar), but there is still work to be done before the Edinburgh Fringe next year. Perhaps Dean can offer some help.

She is simply helping the housing market, as the good people of Anglesey clearly can't afford to pay £800k for a property. Alternatively she's a f**king hypocrite.

It might have been due to a good defence, but my guess is that the CPS were so confident of a result they put up a shoddy case. The jury can only work on evidence and not speculation, and they were obviously not convinced.

A gap of 90 years, yet we still don't understand that playing with fire will burn us quite badly. But then Hegseth already bears the marks of fascism on his body.

This article should be compulsory reading! I know how easy it is for intelligent people to be misled, as my daughter-in-law very nearly succumbed to the MMR nonsense. She only agreed to her children being vaccinated after my daughter interceded with what I suspect was some fairly pithy advice.

In 1972 this was the sort of gig you could go to at a Pub in suburban London. Incredible.

Thank you, Hugh. I'm annoyed there's no cure but at least I'm still mobile, albeit at a slower pace, and there are people (such as those with MND) in a much worse place. And I'm still hanging on to what passes for a sense of humour!

Agreed. I speak from some experience insofar as this year I've been diagnosed with a Parkinsonian illness and also registered LPAs on my health and finances. Neither event is newsworthy, and I suspect Ranulph Fiennes will feel the same. His illness will cause enough problems without the rest of it.

It's because we have a vicarious interest in the lives of well known people. He hasn't been seen in public for two years, yet the police are satisfied that he is receiving suitable care. If there is a problem with the LPA then that is probably due to poor drafting. Sad, but not front page sad.

I've only done a couple of bits, in the course of separate walks at Knettishall Heath and Long Acre, but very much enjoyed them. I always intended to do the whole trail, but am not sure about the A11 and A47 nowadays!

I say, what a jolly fine fellow you are to help him like that! That should keep the wolf from the door for a few months and enable young Farage to select some more media appearances. I've heard rumours that he can be something of a rabble rouser, but find that hard to believe.

Combine the recalled vision of a white English paradise that never existed with the otherness of migrants, and you end up with a toxic mix that feeds the suckers. Not then helped by having the likes of Mason in the media.

I think that's a fair assessment, Sir Michael. I don't know who this Farage chap is, but he seems to be a jolly decent down to earth fellow. I wonder if we'll hear more from him?

The dishonourable name that can be added to your list is David Cameron. He went with the austerity policies that hollowed out much of the social fabric, and then thought a referendum on the EU would be a super idea. A pretty impressive legacy for a supposedly intelligent man.
