Hi. We’re doing ok. Getting ready for back to school. Grady is good. It breaks my heart to see him not as active as he used to be though. It’s actually been cooler than normal here this week. High 80s instead of 90s. Summer is going by too fast!

I forgot to share photos of Grady’s paintings! The first one (colorful) was done by an artist on TikTok, who chose his photo from the comments.The second one was done from an Instagram artist that one of my students got me a gift card for for Christmas. They are hanging side-by-side in my hallway.

Yesterday‘s walk was at 8:30am, already too hot! Today we went at 7:30. More mosquitoes, but less heat! Louisiana summers! I wish I had time to do this on school mornings. It’s good for both our mental health. Hope everyone has a wonderful day! #CorgiCrew

Yes, we finished last Thursday. I am still in decompression mode. That usually lasts a week or so. Lots of naps and lazy days.

He’s okay. We’ve started him on some pain meds. His back legs are progressing and it’s getting harder for him to scoot around. Still fighting that staph infection in a few places. It went away completely and is popping back up. Planning on lots of stroller rides and his favorite treats.

My dad passed away yesterday. I don’t think it’s fully hit me yet. Nothing prepares you for losing a parent and being in a world that you’ve never known without them. I know he’s already found the best fishing spot in heaven!

He drags his back legs behind him. Front legs are still great! I’ll try to get a video later. We use the Help Em Up harness for potty breaks. He gets time in the wheelchair, but it’s not his favorite.

Update: they see no signs of an active ear infection. They’re wondering if some water got in it from his latest bath and it’s just irritating him. They’re giving us an ear wash, but no antibiotics.

7:20 AM. Taking Grady into MedVet. He woke up shaking his head uncontrollably. He’s whining and miserable. I’m hoping it’s just an ear infection. I’m so grateful to work for a wonderful school and admin who scrambled to find a sub for me this morning so I wouldn’t have to go in.

Thank you. We are still fighting the skin issues. New spots keep showing up. It’s a constant routine of baths, foam, and spray. He’s not really bothered though. I have noticed his bark sounds different in the last few days - hoarser - which is a sign the DM is progressing. 😩☹️

The dermatologist was at the same place that his oncologist is. The girl at the desk called the oncology department to let them know that he was there. His favorite tech came out to see him and bringing him some treats. He was so happy to see her!

$800 dermatologist visit today! 😩 Staph infection still not gone. He recommended as many baths as we can do (daily if possible) with the chlorhexidine shampoo (we got some stronger). He thinks it may be an underlying thyroid issue that is causing him to be susceptible to the infection.
