Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Hey, Grabbus Gamers! *ahem* There's a lot on my plate these days, but please do not take this lull as an indication of the status of Grabbus. I've been working hard to get more time to work on this! I will begin writing up the design and content of the "Skixx Codexx" in-game glossary tomorrow! 120
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 07/09/2026I'm almost done with the other thing I was working on that was keeping me from working on Grabbus! I'm also visiting my parents' place for a few months soon to help them out while dad is in physical therapy, but I'll bring my PC and concentrate even more on gamedev in my spare time while there. 051
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 27/08/2026I just made a major decision that will give me more time for Grabbus. There will be three Grabbus days a week, back-to-back! It has been tremendously difficult to find a good chunk of time to work on it lately. So, I've made cuts elsewhere to allow more breathing room. It is time to truly Grabbus. 161
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 26/08/2026Figured I'd make it clear on the profile page that Grabbus is a game that does not use AI in any part of the process. I know the art looks good, but I assure you I drew it all myself. 052
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 08/08/2026Status Update! My classes will begin soon and I'm still working on a commission that will take a couple more weeks at least. I've been CRAZY busy lately, just not on Grabbus, sorry! But to refresh, a new dev schedule will be made after I've settled into classes and my big commission is done. 172
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 10/07/2026It will still be some time before I can get back to work on Grabbus, but we have been brainstorming on what the next update should focus on. I'm pleased to announce: The Onboarding Update! -New tutorial popups for storage and evolution -Hand-made Intro stage -"Skixx Codexx" in-game glossary 121
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 26/06/2026Status update! I'm doing some paid catch-up work for a while before I can get back to Grabbus, so please have patience for a bit! Until that and the home repairs get settled and done... 020
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 20/06/2026Just got this scanned! Made with watercolor. 1189
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 11/06/2026Just finished this hand-painted piece for Grabbus! Watercolor and pens for the most part. I'll try to get it scanned and stuff soon! 04112
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 08/06/2026I'll be back home on the 11th! Then sometime soon after, we'll report on what's planned for the next update! I'll definitely emphasize that now is the time to begin adding broader expansions to Grabbus' variety of locations, items, activities, enemies, buildings, and more... Get ready! 😎👍 060
Reposted by Grabbus [Indie Game]DonutShoes🍩👟 @donutshoes.bsky.social · 27/05/2026I made some new sounds for this and I'm REALLY pleased with how they were implemented!! I was playing a lot of Grabbus while I was figuring out how I wanted to make the sounds, it's very fun, please try it! 1116
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 27/05/2026Grabbus v0.2.6 is OUT! Item Storage, Balance tweaks, new SFX, and much more! store.steampowered.com/news/app/351...store.steampowered.comGrabbus - Grabbus v0.2.6 Released! - Steam News"The Storage & Balance Update" 13012
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 27/05/2026I'm about to upload v0.2.6! Just making sure I have everything perfectly ready. 040
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 26/05/2026Patch notes have been written up. Today's the day! 030
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 23/05/2026Just did more testing this morning and fixed a bug related to weapon container drops that caused their power level to be overwritten by the world potency roll. This will certainly be a patch full of fundamental fixes... I checked all loot drop function calls to make sure things are perfect. 030
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 15/05/2026The Spanish translation has been updated and the new sound effects list has been determined, with work on the latter beginning now! The new update is coming along! I'll be continuing my own testing of the game today to see if there are any more balance tweaks I want to make or bugs to fix. 010
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 09/05/2026All is going well for prepping the next update! I've already started a test playthrough with the new balance changes and item storage! I was able to identify some minor fixes and adjustments so far, and got those done. We're still far from a full game, but the fun factor IS increasing! 131
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 05/05/2026Here's a cool reveal while you wait for the update: In a later patch, "Rat Rescue" will appear! It's been mentioned in passing before. -Rescue a fellow rat in the dungeon and they may join your colony! -Another mouth to feed, but a source of work points! -Build far and wide to support more rats! 140
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 05/05/2026Just finalized the last bit of the gamepad functionality for the new storage menu. Once the on-screen control guides are added, which shouldn't be too hard... that will be everything ready for the next update! But give it a few more days... 100
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 27/04/2026It's almost ready! A few more small, easy bits left until the item storage menu is complete!! But for tonight, I rest... 070
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 22/04/2026The new storage menu is coming along fantastically! Most of the graphics and 100% of the features and QoL tweaks I could think of are now implemented. It still needs a few effects, sounds, and control guides, among a couple of other tiny details, but the storage menu is now officially a thing! 020
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 18/04/2026Here's how the upcoming item storage menu looks so far! It has taken a lot of work, but I wanted it to look slick, but also be easy to use. Still needs plenty of graphics. It has taken a moment to get working since it has some cool features... 174
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 18/04/2026Got more done today! I improved some effects related to items flying across the screen and started working on the background for the storage window. Bit by bit it is coming together! 020
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Added the "cutoff window" for the scrolling items in the storage menu, fixed a couple other bugs while I was at it... all is working well so far! With this, I'll have everything set up to finish the rest of the visual touches, like borders! The item windows will have animated backgrounds inside! 011
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 05/04/2026Got more done on the storage menu yesterday. Even fixed a bug that caused items to be destroyed while in storage! All the functionality seems to be working too. The graphics for the tool buttons are in, but still needs the rest. 010
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 02/04/2026Just released a news item on Steam summarizing the upcoming patch! store.steampowered.com/news/app/351...store.steampowered.comGrabbus - New Details on Upcoming 'Grabbus' Update! - Steam NewsItem Storage! Balance Improvements! Bug fixes! 0105
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 02/04/2026Miraculously, the new storage menu... works! Not detecting any more immediate bugs, all things behaving as they should so far. We're good to go on adding the graphics! The timeline for the next update moves that much closer! 000
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 02/04/2026Would you believe this is less buggy than I was expecting? 030
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 02/04/2026Managed to finish the bulk of the internal logic/input for the storage menu! Next, I must put together visual placeholders to see which parts will inevitably need fixing after writing 800 lines of code without testing. 010
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 01/04/2026Made more progress on the storage menu this morning! Input handling for KBM and Gamepad should be done. Some item transfer actions are in. It's about 70% coded, but I have yet to test it. I'll have to put together some placeholder graphics to see how many bugs I haven't caught... ran out of time! 030
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 01/04/2026Status update on the item storage menu! Most details of the internal logic of the storage menu are in place, here's a few things that remain: -Mouse input -Multiselect -Code for using tools(transfer, fuse, etc.) on item slots -Code for positioning of item icons and scrolling of storage box -Graphics! 021
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 31/03/2026Been working hard lately! Today, I'll be continuing work on the item storage menu for the next update. I'll report back with how far I get later... 010
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 19/03/2026Made more progress on the new item storage menu! I've now got items displaying in the slots... it's a start. I made it complicated by insisting on having the item slots able to animate between positions and do other fancy effects related to transferring, swapping, fusing, trashing and sorting. 050
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 06/03/2026Oh wow I can't believe he would say something so specific somehow. 051
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 06/03/2026One step closer! The "Status" mode of the world map will be a place to check an overview of your progress/stats, an overall territory map (if I can figure it out), and buttons to bring you to different features/services. 284
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 01/03/2026I feel the need to re-iterate that Grabbus and Foxoplasm LLC will NEVER make use of generative tech to replace human work. Games are art, and art is made by people, not machines. No matter how hard it is to make a game, to use these so-called "tools" defeats the purpose. 062
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 27/02/2026Just finished the last of the balance bits I wanted to fix before adding the item storage menu! With all these changes I'll go ahead and count this as a major update once the storage is ready! This will be a somewhat involved UI, I planned it out already, but it will take some time! Hold tight! 031
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 25/02/2026Made more progress on the balance adjustments. Stun chance adjusted to take damage amount into account, bullet ripening made less intense, size now affects damage for your and your foe's shots. Also fixed a bug related to spiky enemies no longer choosing to be spiky if they get scared. 131
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 23/02/2026I've made some progress last night! Four to-do items have been completed! Those being from the recent extended playtest. I'm excited for this next update! If I adjust things well, Grabbus will be more enjoyable as a simplified slice of the game experience rather than just a testing ground. 161
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 18/02/2026I've been doing an extended playtest on a fresh file to get another feel for balance and take notes on things I want to improve. I've come up with at least seven items for the to-do list, all of which are relatively easy and quick to do, but should greatly improve the experience! 040
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 17/02/2026Doing another balance playtest! Recently added a diminishing curve to certain difficulty modifiers on enemies, gonna see how it feels. 050
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 08/02/2026Taking a quick look at the enemy damage scaling formula. Feels like it goes up a bit harshly with difficulty level... 020
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 07/02/2026Last night I worked late and got the tiered pickup items finished and implemented! It will have an affect on balance, especially for healing orbs, so that will be a point of interest later! Fixed some bugs while I was in there too. One step closer to a cooler game! 072
Reposted by Grabbus [Indie Game]DonutShoes🍩👟 @donutshoes.bsky.social · 06/02/2026Bandcamp Friday! I released my new album The Hugur Files in January when there WASN'T a BCF. So if you've been holding out until now to buy my album NOW'S YOUR CHANCE!! 🏃♀️💨 02520
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 06/02/2026So far, I have the new quantagon(money) sprites animated! Next are the fusion sparks and health orbs. Once those are done, adding them to the loot pool is trivial! 020
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 06/02/2026There are still a few smaller items on my list before the item bank- for today... 1. Give the fusion spark its own sprite 2. Make new denomination tiers of pickup-on-touch items like the fusion spark, health orb, and currency, so that large rewards do not lag your game with tons of pickups. 001
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 05/02/2026For the next patch, just fixed the bug that made the inventory not show during the inventory tutorial. Oops! 010
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 27/01/2026While I'm sat here, I also came up with an easy optimization that will cut down on a number of checks that were being done each frame on all objects. Related to the "time layer" system for UI objects to take over and pause other entities under them. Allows better performance during gameplay! 030
Grabbus [Indie Game] @grabbus.bsky.social · 27/01/2026Had a pipe burst last night, so dealing with that is gonna be a whole thing... In the meantime, I finally got the layout for the item bank UI put together. With this, I'll be able to program it quickly, knowing where everything goes and how it should work! 130
