I once sketched a phone in a phonebook and a phone number in a sketchbook. I rang my phone to find my sketchbook where I found my sketch of the phone who's number was sketched in the sketchbook. All a bit sketchy.

I'm supposed to be drawing an olive tree in Greece. I'm easily distracted ...

This morning I was greeted by this enormous insect. A beautiful Egyptian grasshopper - 70mm long!

I think this is what oranges are supposed to look like. They certainly taste a thousand times better than the ones in my local supermarket.

"... that do not embrace it, will be left behind.". Really? isn't that what the tech Billionaires want us all to believe. Tis the mantra of the money-maker - with not a care for the collateral damage. AI will leave us all behind, including you my friend. Unplug it now.

Extraordinary that the BBC can report this without knowing what the protest is actually about!

I can do so much on my smartphone. If only I could clearly see the screen on a sunny day.

My drawings are detailed and faithful to the actual tree. I'd like you to easily recognise the tree if you use the coordinates to find it!

Explain how they might die if they don't? Or better still, how their wealth will soon be worthless?!

". . . what the world needs is not just economic degrowth but ecological regrowth. We need a system of trade, currency, taxation, incentives that rewards countries and companies for restoring the world’s battered ecosystems.". Jonathan Watts Global Environment Editor, Guardian

And here it is, the St Giles Yew. One of the UK's oldest trees. Ancient yew trees are often found within old church grounds. Christians often built churches on older Pagan sites, where yews lived. Yews were sacred to the Pagans, a symbol of strength and longevity and useful for making bows!

The tree is a yew. I've sketched parts of the trunk but have not drawn the entire tree, yet!

Chronologically: - The tree dates from BC 1000 (Iron Age begins) - The church dates from AD 1200 (King John & the Magna Carta) - The shed dates from AD 1983 (Gimme All Your Lovin', ZZ Top)

Huge thanks to those who've already bought prints from my store gpstrees.com Framing suggestion: Try a cost effective thin black or white frame with a deep white mount. Include a 5-10 mm white margin between the drawing's grey background and the mount window 👇👍

This Sunday, enjoy your nut roast or sweet chestnut stuffing and think of me, the grower. 400 freezing winters, 146,100 days fighting disease, 525 autumn months enduring thrown sticks, and in 1682 I was disabled by a fallow deer. But in spite of everything I keep going and I keep growing.
