Every day, thousands of people travel through the Fraser Valley, passing signs for places like Skowkale, Chilliwack, and Sts’ailes without giving their names a second thought.  But every one of those names has a history, a meaning, a connection to the land that long predates the roads, neighbourhoods and communities people know today.  For Heather Campbell, who identifies herself as a […]

There was no classroom, no curriculum, and no formal training — just a seven-year-old Brianna Strumm, a stack of homemade worksheets, and a group of stuffed animals ready to learn.  Though she began her career in social work, Brianna now sees those early moments as the start of her path to teaching.  “I was teaching my two […]

Three University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) alumni have played a fun and vital behind-the-scenes role at one of the world’s premier sporting events.  As international soccer squads have hit the field at B.C. Place Stadium throughout June, and now into July, they’ve done so on a turf field carefully created by Abbotsford’s Bos Sod Farms. Nicoline Van Oort, a graduate of UFV’s Agriculture Technology program, has worked alongside […]

As the longtime leader of West Coast Amusements, Bob is definitely “for it.” […]
