114: Nightcrawler (1985) This one was just full on hijinks. I think it got a bit TOO silly near the end but Kurt getting to be a central character was really fun, he’s easily one of my faves so it’s fun to follow him as he is tormented by bizarre situations.

113: Firestar (1986) Surprised by how much I liked this story arc. Emma Frost establishing herself well a a villain by gaslighting a child to become an assassin was a really fun and investing plot, it’s probably my favorite non-Claremont X-Men adjacent story yet.

112: Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion This show had a really strong start and the main character is a lot of fun. I do think the latter half kinda meanders, though - it didn’t get far enough to adapt the most interesting stuff it builds up to. Hope for a sequel.

111: Kitty Pryde & Wolverine I'm not HUGE on the recurring "Wolverine in Japan" plots per se, but it was fun seeing Kitty get a lot of development into "Shadowcat", and it was a generally fun run with some really fun uses of her power.

I keep reading iconic crossover comics in my X-Men binge and going "mid, when can i read more X-Men". I shudder a bit at the UNpopular event comics lol.

110: Secret Wars (1984) Another event read for my X-Men binge. It's a bit of a mess ONLY having X-Men context, and they're a bit rough here, but it's still fun, especially Doom's role. It's funny how Spidey and the symbiote suit are BARELY present in it.

109: Magik (1983) Finally reaching the character that made me want to read X-Men in the first place. Very cool origin story for a character that is instantly super interesting even among a loaded cast like the New Mutants. Excited to see more from her with time.

108: Wolverine (1982) Another one for the X-men binge. It has some very stereotypical ideas of Japan, but as a Logan introspective piece it does some great stuff, and the art and paneling are fantastic.

107: Marvel Super Hero: Contest of Champions Read as part of my X-Men binge, it’s just banging toys together with minimal context. It’d be a bit more fun if there weren’t so many awkward racial stereotypes (one in particular being a major oof). It certainly existed.

106: Absolute Martian Manhunter Easily one of the most creative comics I've ever read. It's dense in visuals and writing style in a way that can make it difficult to parse at times, but is so creative in its visuals, layout, and concepts that it never loses you. Fantastic book.

Way too in deep with IRL stuff and still need to finish the villain color wheel to do an October art challenge this year. I need to be self aware enough to not take a million challenges at once every now and then!

105: An American Tail I don’t recall if I have ever seen this movie, and a lot of Don Bluth stuff is a blind spot for me. It’s a very cute and sincere film with a lot of gorgeous backgrounds and lovely character animation, just a generally sweet experience.

104: The Adventures of Sam & Max: Freelance Police Incredibly funny show that tells more jokes in one episode than some comedies tell in an entire season. It can get a bit exhausting but I had a good time with it and would like to check out more Sam & Max, especially the games.

Addressing flaws in your characters is fun but scary because it becomes a matter of how chopped can you make them before people get actively annoyed about it

103: X-Men: The Animated Series Finally finished this after starting a few years back. This is such a cool cartoon and I’m jealous that I didn’t grow up with it. Lot of fun characters and ideas, and it helped get me into the actual comics. Excited to finally watch ‘97.

102: The X-Men (Original Run) Issues 1-66, before it was canned for a few years. Fascinating to see the tone develop over time. It wasn’t amazing - I skimmed a lot - but felt like it found its footing once Neal Adams was on the art. Interested to see things develop beyond this.

My favorite part about this LabL arc is how I don’t think I’ve seen a single person accurately guess Vanessa’s hang-up

101: Witch Hat Atelier S1 Finally finished the anime thus far with my sister. It’s such a good adaptation of the manga, it truly lives up to the impossible task of doing so. And wow the sub is phenomenal, some of the best, most passionate performances I’ve heard in a while.

100: The Unbelievable Gwenpool Absolutely adored this series. Gwenpool is a super charming character and they do incredibly creative things with her post-modern concept, and I always adore art from Gurihiru. I hope her zany story gets to continue for a long, long time.

99: Seven Samurai I’ve meant to watch this for a while, and while it’s different than expected - much more slow and methodical than it’s cool-samurai-dudes reputation suggests - it’s just as good as I heard. I loved these characters and their priceless journey. Fantastic film.

98: X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills Making an effort to read some short comics, and have been interested in the X-Men. I’ve been told this is the definitive standalone X-Men story, and I understand why. Really examines the mutants as a minority and the dangers of a silver tongue.

97: Taskmaster Australia s5 Very fun season. Took a while to get used to this chaotic cast but it had some really big highlights. Brett’s tendency to either nail it or give up in seconds was fun, and Joel’s entire saga with the “find Tom” task was hysterical.

96: Witch Hat Atelier (Ongoing) I finally caught up on what is one of the best manga I’ve ever read. Some of the most gorgeous, thoughtful art I’ve ever seen, engaging world-building, lovely characters, and oh my god the Silver Eve arc…This one’s going down in history for me.

SHOW ME YOUR WEBCOMIC I will read at least one chapter of every webcomic shared with me! I'll say something nice about each one I read, and give feedback if you want it! Show me your hard work!

In the context of my comic it’s just a minor character whose V-tuber model is a vampire, but it is a fun concept lol. Wouldn’t be too surprised if a manga or webtoon like that exists somewhere.

95: Rock is a Lady’s Modesty Incredibly fun show. I read some of the manga, but the production (including really good cgi) and music added a lot. There were some running gags I didn’t care for, but the high octane intensity and a really charming lead made for a great time.

Been adding a lot of trans characters to the comic lately. They weren’t planned from the start but I didn’t want to just place the entire weight of the trans experience on one character. It’s been fun expanding that roster lately.

The color wheel this year taking more than the entire summer instead of one month definitely reflects how stressed I've been this summer from a variety of things. It'll still be slow with work picking up soon, but my go-to lately has been drawing during my D&D sessions, so that will likely continue.

94: The Phantom of the Opera Saw live as my first real time seeing it. Very cool musical, as expected. The effects and chandelier and all the wild sets were the highlights - they really took advantage of the medium in fun ways. Happy to cross this one off the bucket list.

93: I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History Had a weak start and the romance is middling at best, but I had fun with this one! It was definitely at its best with the dynamic between the villainess and heroine, and its more political focus. Not amazing, but a good time.

92: Bad End Theater Very brief, charming puzzle VN about playing with character behaviors to see every bad end possible (and maybe a good end?) and I really enjoyed it. Lovely visuals and characters made a simple premise work really well, and it had some fun queer elements.
