WELP, gotta screech to a halt to check out this electronics store and its Xbox 360 S units (a design from 2010). This show opens in 2009 and this scene is "Two Years Later," so the presence of The Crackdown 2, Halo Reach, and a looming poster for The Social Network (2010) are all accurate. 🤌

Never mind, show, I forgive you because you played this particular Ramones song diegetically. I do think that as in the book, an effort is being made to say, "Hey, this is a crime novel. It's not set in King country: that's all fictional and we're establishing fair, real world detective rules."

I understand they probably couldn't get the Pennywise likeness while the IT films were hot 'n fresh, but it's a little disappointing for a fan. In the book this mask is found after the massacre and somebody says: "Creepy as hell. You ever see that TV movie about the clown in the sewer?"
A creepy clown mask which has curly multicolored hair and thus doesn't resemble Pennywise the Clown very closely.

For whatever reason, the Mr. Mercedes TV show is leaving Peacock in a couple weeks. I'm clearly not in the right frame of mind to enjoy a suicidally depressed detective story, but I *do* like catching adaptations of Stephen King books I've read, so let's go!

When I say "I watched every superhero show growing up!" I mean it. Back then you had to scan the entire printed TV listings manually every week, so as not to miss something. Despite being a kid, I DID.

Unrelated to the subject of the article (maybe?) autoblog.com is unreadable because this apparently AI-generated article has an AI-generated summary at the top, the first bullet point of which is the just body of the entire article (again).
It's what's described in the post, the entire article about Cybertrucks' low values is also in an AI-generated summary at the top of the article.

It's extra funny because Trump has actually fallen into a Xenophon trap instead. He invaded Persia (pre-rebrand name of Iran) with a plan of regime change, failed, and can't get out, meaning an inescapable series of desperate and costly fights. They made a movie about it once.

Happy 4/20. A hundred years ago, cannabis indica grew wild across North America. It is a hardy plant of countless uses: professional, medicinal, recreational. It was easy to both grow and find. As George Washington wrote: "Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere!”

While I didn't care for Whedon's comics writing even at the time, gotta note that the late John Cassaday was a top-flight artist, and if you do enjoy Astonishing, it's fine. Especially if it brought you in long-term. (Yeah, we all got to the mansion in weird ways, but you got here, that's the key.)

A trivial observation: Danger originated in Astonishing X-Men (2004), a comic that kajillions of non-comic readers rushed to buy because Joss Whedon's name was on the cover. It's been 22 years but I can dimly remember posters with Buffy signatures suddenly insisting they were X-perts. Odd days.

The chief executives of 3M, Best Buy, Target, and UnitedHealth Group - along with dozens of other Minnesota-based businesses - have signed an open letter calling for "an immediate deescalation of tensions" and for local and federal officials "to work together to find real solutions".

The letter was issued today by the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and includes more than 60 signatories.

"In this difficult moment for our community," the business leaders say, "we call for peace and focused co-operation among local, state and federal leaders to achieve a swift and durable solution that enables families, businesses, our employees, and communities across Minnesota to resume our work to build a bright and prosperous future."

Text from Variety article, Oct 10 2025:

During the presentation, del Toro also candidly weighed in on the current debate over the threat of AI, and said it was important to "differentiate the term Al as a tool and Al as a proposal of generating creativity."

"If you look at a particle system that has been used in animation for more than 15 years, that system contains elements that could be seen as AI. Generative Al is a different conversation," said del Toro.

"A few months ago, somebody wrote me in a high position. They said, 'What is your stance about AI?' And I answered the email saying, 'I'd rather die."
