The Myst 2021 remake blew me away. Myst is a pretty quaint title by today's standards but few real-time 3D games gave me the impression that every frame and camera angle looks like it could come from a pre-rendered game when those were at their peak. Excited to play Riven after work.

Stoneship Age vista of the sun setting over the ocean, waves splashing against craggy rocks in the distance. A metal radio tower-like structure looms to the right of the viewpoint.

Channelwood Age vista. Trees, dozens of meters tall grow out of a muddy greyish- green swamp with fireflies glowing in the distance. Plants and broken tree stumps over in the water. The point of view sits on a web of wooden footbridges crossing the swamp.

Selenitic Age vista. An underground facility housing a tram system. A scaffold with rounded handrails leads in a circle around the tram. The tram itself is made of brass, suspended above the point of view with spotlights dramatically illuminating it from below. A set of stairs leads up to the tram.

Mechanical Age vista. A metal, cog-like fortress stands in the middle of an endless expanse of water. The point of view is from a satellite island with a metal bridge connecting it to the structure.
