I read this article and it's actually fine, it only records locally and it goes onto an sd card, you have full control over the recording, it doesn't even have a cloud connection or even a network connection, it has to be manually turned on and off with a button instead of always listening

It's a nonprofit that records conversations apparently and you retain control of the recordings but they're only making 100 of these things so it's not a real product just a PR stunt, also digital recording devices exist already you can just buy a dictaphone

Okay it seems okay if stupid: The device doesn’t record automatically. Press a button, and the device begins recording... Push the button again to stop. It records all the audio on a 16-GB microSD card... There is no cloud connection, no Wi-Fi, and no artificial intelligence features whatsoever
