Kids get free a free balanced breakfast with options in my district, too. Our challenge HS kids with wheels going to Starbucks, Dunkin’ and 7 Brew who offer pink drinks, cake pops and essentially caffeinated milk shakes. Those places marketing to kids drive me bonkers.

Am lucky to be part of a district that offers a nutritious breakfast to every student. But in the High Schools, Starbucks/Dunkin are working against us. Trying hard to change that.

Hey Kat. In my district, the temperature of the food is “recorded” when it leaves the oven. Temp is recorded again when served. A sample of everything is kept for a week, minimum. Work stations are washed/sanitized thoroughly each day. Even the trucks the food comes on, are inspected, every time.

Just a pinch of salt in a pot of coffee does wonders to remove the acidity. Especially if you drink coffee black. You may not notice it at first, but as soon as you forget the salt, you’ll taste the difference.

I make something very similar. Oil, salt, a little bit of brown sugar. A batch lasts a week/week and a half, then I make them again. So good.

I left without whole bean coffee ground in store. Am not a coffee snob, I just like that my press requires no filters. As long as I have ground beans, I get my caffeine. Trader Joe’s is the only store with a grinder. We can wallow in our caffeine deficiency together.
