Has Scorsese ever talked about comics? He seems ignorant of that topic.

I dunno why but Brenden Fraser's face makes me laugh extremely hard. Like I look up on Google and the dude's face has me cracking up harder than most comedians.

I’m a bit of hater of Disney films but if there’s one thing classic Disney landed with me on was making their song pieces fun visual spectacles. Always felt satisfying to really engage with that in a way I don’t anything else these movies do.

It’s kinda funny people will boast about being more capable than a hired writer in terms of storytelling decisions but it’s always obvious to me they’d be far more inept if they actually got the same role.

Creggar Resident Evil is kind of interesting to me in that it's intentionally not being like Resident Evil while also not being conventional to what Creggar makes either. It's a lot more setpiece oriented in a way that's like a video game without any mystery in Creggar's style.

Kind of a shame this guy got tainted by being in Other M so they never put him in anything else. I don’t think anyone would complain.

IX was god awful but I did at least find it funny. The way the “you’re Palpatine’s daughter” scene was so comically directed that it was hard for me to not laugh. A lot of scenes are so cheeseball it’s unsurprising they got turned into memes, like “somehow, Palpatine returned”

Kinda funny you posted this because I was just about to start investing in sense and sensibility. I haven’t read Jane Austen before.

making in what they produce in a way that doesn't exist with generative AI? What makes AI worse than human art if we're to assume that death of the author is a valid approach? Because if you reduce art to face value interpretation and capturing a style then your take is shallow.

what ai is isn't artistically repugnant on its face. It shows just how much death of the author doesn't work as a critical analysis method because without it how can we honestly say that ai is worse artistically than human art if we're to ignore the artists intentional decision

One thing I don't think people don't talk about is how ai has shined a new perspective on death of the author. If you advocate for death of the author, how can you earnestly be opposed to ai in the artistic perspective? If we're to suggest that the artist doesn't matter, then

You'd be surprised how dismissive certain people can be about old stuff in other mediums. Just look at the people dismissive of silent era film or 00's era alt-rock music. Books may be the only exception but even that can stereotype of being pretentiousness if you identify with classic literature.

Alan Moore was right - cape fans can be total crybabies. And I'd add they're also narratively illiterate at times too.

I feel the issue with the concept of "justice" is that people are unsatisfied with the results of someone being held accountable but don't really have a coherent foundation for what punishment would be valid. People are incredibly draconian but not in way that's coherent.

its arcs being longer than the usual superhero fare is what sets these people off, also the fact that they're very lore brained and think more about continuity and world building than the narrative. Granted, I think *most* people like the story but the critics are... baffling to me sometimes.

In fairness I do think the comic is structured a lot like a superhero book which is separated by arcs and one issue stories that culminate into something cohesive (at least ideally). And given the sort of characters in this story I can get why it would appeal to that audience. But it's funny that

tbh I've never read a comic that's so varied in quality as Deniz Camp's "Assorted Crisis Events." The Hearth and Gig stories are total shit, but the "Temporal Diminishment" and the "Strange Loops" story is goddamn phenomenal. The inconsistency here is oddly fascinating to me.

the criticism the story gets is not exposition dumping everything or not liking one aspect of the thematic messaging which always felt reductive to me.

One issue stories is something those publications do a lot and are in many cases iconic and defining for various characters. With Road stories I think it’s neat that it allows the setting to play into various narrative beats without having to commit to a larger arc. Kinda feel like a lot of the

The series does have a tendency to linger on a specific area for a long time so I thought Road Stories was valuable in how it shows how many things Erica has dealt with and that her experience is actually quite expansive. It’s kinda weird to me that it gets disliked by DC/Marvel fans given that

I’ve seen people criticize it for being an overly obvious psa on gun safety but tbh that’s not what really registered to me when I read it. It felt way to focused on Erica’s trauma and how something as small as this was able to set her off emotionally, and I really loved that.

Never got why people disliked the Road Trip arc in "Something is Killing the Children." A lot of the stories give weight to Erica's trauma and lived experiences, especially the therapy issue despite its obvious preaching. Honestly wish more of the comic had more interpersonal writing like that.

I gotta say, I feel comics are more digestible for me right now when I don't feel the need to read DC/Marvel shit and am reading a ton of non-cape shit. I feel comic discourse would be so much more enjoyable if more people did this.

I'm generally negative on generative ai but I feel people are way to hostile to the idea of saying anything positive about its output or how specific people use it. If anything the potential for actual quality in my mind should be a red flag about the issues it can cause.

Gorgoe @gorgoe.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
There's a thing called negativity bias that's common for a lot of people but I feel like I go the opposite route and try to produce positivity bias most of the time. Granted certain things I'm very negative of but things that are positive catch my attention more than negativity.

Anyone who's entire argument is a Grok prompt is very unserious. Especially when they try to argue someone is dumb when they're clearly incapable of making an argument without using a very unreliable ai that isn't even really arguing against you coherently.

Gorgoe @gorgoe.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
People who use grok for their entire argument are weirdly condescending and over confident that this is somehow winning their whole argument while somehow being completely unaware of what Grok is actually saying or if it's saying anything relevant to the actual argument.

Is there a genre in gaming people are more dumb about than MOBAs? Feels like most people who whine about them as a concept are actually not talking about them in any way that isn’t either extremely insular, ignorant, or bad faith about competitive games in general?

Putting “ups” at the end of any description of gameplay is a god tier way to name a genre. Shit always makes me laugh.

I'm not arguing stealth gamers are harder or anything to that extent, but I think your overestimating action games in terms of how easy it is to trivalize MANY of them based on just pure knowledge checks, including DMC games.
000 0
Gorgoe @gorgoe.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
A lot of "knowledge" is actually just "practice." Figuring out how to do certain things is really not that daunting as you make it out to be in an action game anyway. Like you're not "practicing" to not die in DMC3, you're learning how to avoid the failstate and at least get past the obstacle. Now

being is that the punishment you get in an action game is more swift and something you more immediately deal with than the drawn out process many stealth games make it out to be. A lot of execution is really a knowledge test anyway, I feel you're making too much of a distinction that doesn't exist.

Gorgoe @gorgoe.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
I'd argue you know what to do in a stealth game too but still make bad decisions which is why save scumming actually happens so often. Like honestly, is an execution failure really that different from a bad decision made in a stealth game as something you want to save scum out of? The difference

the same way if you could just rewind the game if you got hit or didn't properly hit the combo. I think you're hitting on a lot of good ideas for challenges of making stealth games, but I feel the real barrier is really making valuable fail states which many of them lack.
110 0
Gorgoe @gorgoe.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
stealth games can be trivialized by knowledge checks but that save scumming makes the barrier way too small and not having to pay for mistakes makes it seem as if you're passing knowledge checks than utilizing mechanics to get out of your mistakes. Like if it was a viable thing to do, DMC would feel

checks because fundamentally every game has them but the extent to which the game informs you of them differs. It's not gonna be immediately obvious to me what the optimal play is in Red Alert 2's campaign or what the ai does in Ninja Gaiden. I think the issue you're posing is less the issue that

I think this is a good video, you got the right ideas with the balance of stealth games but I don't agree with the comparison to action games because action games can be trivialized with just good knowledge, including games like DMC. There's also a point to be made about how knowledge also isn't
