The great thing about spinach is that you think "woah, I bought too much, 3kg is never going to fit in this pot" but once you've steamed it and blended it into pureé for your curry sauce you've got like a coke can full when you're finished.

This house has a pavement outside made of the bits cut out of marble worktops for the sinks.

Our old (at least 15 years old, came with the house) dishwasher wouldn't work. After probably thousands of operating cycles, the door catch microswitch had lost its click. A £2 part and half a dozen screws later and it's back doing our dishes. We need everything to be repairable.

"Some people can reply" is an instant block from me. Want to gatekeep who can interact with you? Yeah, I don't want to hear from you.

It's 11pm, it's finally the end of twilight, and the little 150W panel I've been playing about with recently - pointing almost completely north just now at 320° - is still showing up as putting out 1.8 volts. I'm tempted to go and hang an LED off the terminals to see if it lights up.

Well I looked up, saw a sign with a toilet symbol on it, walked towards it, and lo and behold, toilets. So yeah you made it pretty easy really, good work on that.
Sign that says "How did you find our toilets today?" with a QR code from a Morrisons.

It's always interesting to hear older people's take on things. For example the old guy who stopped and talked to me for a while when I was working outside about how cars are all just computers these days, and I'd no chance of fixing the problem with my 30-year-old Landrover, because it's just a big

Gran Turismo needs a Shitbox DLC. I want to see K11 Micras swapping paint with Mk4 Escorts, Mini Metros, Mazda 323s with pizza shop signs on the roof, and "bread van" Polos.

@leadedsolder.com I spotted a thing on your post about the Wapuro with the rotten power supply. The two transistors glued together with wires coming out of the epoxy looks awfully like the guts of some sort of temperature-compensated expo converter. You see this in analogue synths all the time.

Seaquest DSV. Set 25 years into the future, the mysterious world of 2018. A 1990s sci-fi series so far ahead of its time that there's hardly anything profoundly culturally insensitive in it *anywhere*! For those with small children, Octonauts is the reboot we never knew we needed.

Sometimes the UK government gets it right. I just taxed my car, and it was simply a matter of going to the website printed in big text on the letter, typing in the number in big numbers on the letter, clicking "pay by card" and letting it hoover up 360 quid. Ten seconds. That's it for another year.

www.tinaja.com/ebooks/TTLCB... Reading this, I can actually smell the lathe oil and solvent cleaner in my dad's old workshop. The company he worked for had an extensive library of these, and I used to sit and read them when I went along with him sometimes.

Honestly I think the main reason I like using grep -n is because of the Joker colour scheme and I just imagine it reading out what it finds in a Jack Nicholson voice.

Rather than apologising for his antisemitism, Farage demands the BBC apologise for the antisemitism of Alf Garnett, a fictional character created to satirise antisemitism, who was portrayed by a Jewish man.

not sure how to square ‘no one person can be reasonably expected to pay for every media subscription’ with ‘sorely underpaid writers need to make a living’ but my inclination is not to locate that problem with any of the broke ass people on either end of the complaint

Can't reply in the original thread, or to either of the posters, but my son just brought this back from the library and has spent all weekend telling people about Tasselled Wobbegongs. A 5-year-old carpet shark enthusiast. They are hilarious-looking creatures, but apparently bitey if you annoy them.

Have you seen the kids book 'You're Called What?', about animals visiting the ministry of silly names to change theirs? The tasselled wobbegong features, and it's generally a joy throughout, highly recommend for younger kids
