why have conversations where only one character in a scene is voiced? why have the subtitles completely unsynced from the voiceover? why do the subtitles just not match the voice over in so much of the dialogue? it looks so unprofessional and bad!

i am trying to treat order of the sinking star with good grace because plenty of people worked on it and the puzzles are very fun. but the game has just not been finished properly. lots of weird jank with the voiceover, whole lines of dialogue completely missing, wildly messed up subtitle timings...

at every point i felt like i understood more or less what danielewski was going for, but was just underwhelmed by it. i hate to say it (since it's also a work with a lot of problems) but infinite jest just does some of the experimental stuff better and without resorting to printing gimmicks

Google finally updated some of its satellite images of Gaza and my god, it's horrific. The entirety of Rafah has been demolished. The majority of Khan Younis is in ruins. Entire towns completely leveled and erased of the map.

so much of it reminds me the worst parts of what i think of as "gacha game writing". character interactions are just non-sequitur after non-sequitur, conversations don't have any natural flow to them... some of these characters are saying some of the most weirdly constructed sentences i've ever seen

the witness suffered from this as well, but at least had the decency not to impose it on you at every turn. but here you can't get away from the pained exposition, the dialogue all three times longer than it needs to be, and everything so poorly judged in terms of its surroundings

finished the endgame of splatoon raiders yesterday and it's as i suspected, the game has absolutely no staying power or replayability. no reason for me to pick it back up again. super disappointing!

past a certain point the only added difficulty seems to be enemy health and spawn rate, rather than any additional mechanics or special twists, so the whole game becomes a grinding exercise. and also the combat just becomes this absurd chaotic mess where the screen is just covered in numbers

The Washington Post's description of the bodycam video of his arrest last year, and the translation of Mr. Shah Alam's comments, is gutting. Remember, he was entirely blind in one eye and could only see three feet in the other, and he spoke virtually no English. He spent a year in jail for this.

Body-cam footage from the incident, reviewed by The Post, shows Shah Alam standing near the door of the shed holding two black poles. Officers shout at him and order him to drop the poles, reportedly curtain rods he’d fashioned into walking sticks. Shah Alam repeatedly says, “Sorry” while adjusting his grip on the poles and walking toward the officers. The officers continue to shout and warn that they will fire their Tasers. At one point, Shah Alam responds, “No,” then points the rods at the officers.

The officers both fire their Tasers and tackle him. Two officers report being bitten in the scuffle. After Shah Alam is restrained, the officers remark that they smell alcohol.

In the footage, Shah Alam can be heard speaking in Rohingya and Malay. He asks for God’s help and tries to explain to the uncomprehending officers that he lives nearby and was going to the store. He pleads with the officers not to throw away his phone.
