That's the only way it makes sense. She's sure not qualified to have gotten in on merit based on her current aptitude, unless she happened to catch whatever is turning her idol's brain to mush since she graduated.

Wow. I'm surprised that she actually got into law school in the first place.

Oh yeah, how could I forget that one? Maybe it's the transitive property and was covered by "head" rather than covering the head.

For you traveling to a dropbox in state would be a wee bit inconvenient. Nice that they let you fax them in. That saves a lot of time, effort, and expense.

Absolutely what he's trying to do. This regime wants to turn the country into a real life version of The Purge. Sickening. At least I got my vote in, and I received the message from the county this morning that my ballot was received and counted. Whew. Dropboxes work well this round.

Yes, but more than that, every technological advancement has the potential to be used for good or ill. The most flagrant example of course is nuclear technology. It has great potential for good, and yet the first application was for destruction that we'll never escape.

Ande Jacobson @goodreedaj.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
The problem is that the technology advances faster than the ethics and safeguards surrounding it, so errors are pretty much guaranteed. Not a great situation to be sure.

Yes, it can be useful for some repetitive administrative tasks, but not without considerable oversight.

And yes, it has no ethical boundaries given data is data, so privacy concerns are serious when AI is used.

It's increasingly being used in medicine as well, and the errors there can be catastrophic.

Yes, AI is absolutely horrific when it comes to nuance, and humor. Any specific AI engine is also only as good as the material/databases that trained it. Given the number of errors across the digital world, AI absorbs those along with correct information.

Yup - his lack of filter is very telling. He's saying exactly what he's thinking no matter how psychotic.

True, but then when you call everything "America" geography kind of loses any meaning, and he's far too stupid to recognize just how important San Diego is for the military. I know he hates California, but so many of his tech masters still live here too. The idiocy continues.

Ande Jacobson @goodreedaj.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
You gotta admire his tenacity to keep topping his idiocy. That's the thing that historians will ponder years from now - how the voters could have been stupid enough to have elected somebody this incompetent and idiotic not once, but twice.

Ande Jacobson @goodreedaj.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Well, there is a certain kind of brilliance here - this president's actions are the definitive textbook for what never, ever to do as the historical record will show. What a legacy! He truly will be the most hated figure in all of US history.

We just have to keep in mind that there are more of us opposed to this insanity than for it, at least I try to do that when I get overwhelmed. Virtual hug!

It will be easier for the historians looking back on this era 50-100 years from now. It's really hard living through it, but it is textbook fascism - desensitize the masses to violence before committing truly heinous acts. That's the signature of this regime. We'll get through it, but dang it.

Oh, I'm well aware as you do so much. The cornered animal is more dangerous and unhinged. I keep wondering if there's any point where the GOP will see the writing on the wall and finally do their job to stop him. Given no response to his saying to take out CA cities though, I doubt it.

Ande Jacobson @goodreedaj.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
It's definitely going to get much uglier before it gets better. Still, we have to do our part and vote, and push back on all the insanity. It's painful, but necessary. A big part of me wishes we could jump ahead to March 2027, or better yet March 2029. Where's a good wormhole when you need one?

There are some things that really should be mandatory, and other than legitimate medical exemptions, vaccinations for communicable diseases should be one of those things. It is not OK when a person's choice puts others around them at risk.

I've been thinking a lot about why we have such a huge disconnect over what's real these days. As a country, we used to have a common understanding of reality even if we didn't always agree on how best to solve the problems we faced. We don't have that anymore. agoodreedreview.com/2026/10/01/t...

We should be worried. As the president deteriorates, he gets more dangerous, and as he falls, he's going to try to take as many of us with him as possible. We cannot let him do this. We have to vote to get Congress to do its job and stop this insanity. www.marytrump.org/p/the-archit...

Of all of the various platforms though, I think I like Mastodon the best. You have more flexibility with length of posts, and there's no corporate ownership. Unfortunately, most of my friends aren't there, and though I've tried to entice them over, they won't go.

I think part of the problem for me is that I truly am a hermit because of my medical issues, so almost all of my contact is virtual. Yes, I use more personal means like FaceTime, Zoom, text messages, phone calls, and the like, but I still have most of my community friends on FB, so I stay. For now.

Ande Jacobson @goodreedaj.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
True, and a few are on other platforms like Mastodon or here. I'm there too as you know, but I'm just not yet ready to cutoff contact with hundreds of folks just yet. I understand not wanting to support Zuck in any way though. He's slimy. And by keeping things private and hiding ads, he gets less.

That's the issue - everyone has to agree to other communication channels. It's like trying to herd cats, and I'm more of a dog person.

I have too many personal contacts that aren't on other platforms. My local theater/musician community for example and several former work/school friends. If I dropped off, I'd lose touch with all of them. I use the platform deliberately though. I don't doom scroll and I hide the ads.

Did a little checking. Turns out that yes, publicly shared posts and photos can be used for AI training. Posts that are private or "friends-only" cannot be used that way. I do use FB, but all of my personal posts are for friends only to avoid the trolls.

Yes, without supermajorities, they can still be blocked on things in the Senate in particular, but just maybe with MAGA really starting to crumble, they'll get some GOP support on some of the crucial stuff.

Ande Jacobson @goodreedaj.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
It is, but hopefully the Democrats will retake Congress and start doing their job of oversight of both the Executive and Judicial branches. They of course can enact legislation to countermand some of these clearly unconstitutional decisions, and hopefully they'll do just that.

Ande Jacobson @goodreedaj.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Really? There's an old FB/Meta scam that's been saying they control your photos and so forth for years. They don't. I don't see how AI would change that and have to wonder if this isn't just more of the same.

I'm worried about 2028 as well, but not until after the midterms. That's got to be the focus right now, all the way through January to stop Judge Luttig's nightmare scenario getting Congress seated. We the people can do this. We just have to make sure that every eligible voter casts their ballot.

It looks more and more like Trump is working really hard to further Russia's interests in the world. Somehow I don't think that even this rogue SCOTUS majority meant to prioritize Russian interests over all else with their Trump v. The United States decision.

Well, a fictional entity (any god) could be whatever its presenter claims it to be. There's no verifiable proof of any god's existence, and in fiction, characters are whatever comes out of the author's mind.

This is important. We need to stop and reverse the extreme wealth inequality that plagues the US. We need to support the social constructs that every other developed nation enjoys like universal healthcare, affordable housing, affordable education, etc.

Although a slight tangent, in some ways it's good that his actions against Canada are hurting GOP districts very directly. Just maybe they'll finally understand that their actions have negative consequences for them, and if it gets bad enough, just maybe Congress will start to do its job.
