We need to very quickly understand that for journalism to survive the next few years, we have to directly support writers. If we don’t pay writers, billionaires will*. *They’ll float just enough for loyal high profile op-ed bedbugs, and feed the news cycle to biased AI.

oftentimes I write characters that have anhedonic properties as well (it's what I relate to, & often it's hard for me to put myself in the shoes of someone not like that). But then when I'm writing those projects with these characters, I get confronted with the reality I experience

I should clarify, I mean anhedonia, or a quite literal inability to feel 'enjoyment' - it's usually a symptom of depression, (something I've struggled with for my entire life since I was quite young). My depression gets better or worse, but this lack of feeling joy is relatively consistent for me

i think one of the most helpful things you can do actually is contribute $1-3 to someone consistently, every month, for years on end. i LOVE getting a $30 patron, believe me, but most people can't do that forever, and it does feel like a blow when they suddenly cancel (even though i get it) haha
