Get out there and get active people. Doesn’t matter what the activity is. Just move. If you wanna start running, it is hard but that’s exactly why it’s so good for you. Just pick a short initial distance. Do it daily for a week and build from there. Surprise yourself.

So next week for me is 4.2k per day which shouldn’t feel much different from this week’s 3.5k per day.

This “Run your street” plan is working for me. Pick an initial distance (ID) you can run on your street every day for a week. For me it was 700m. But it could be any distance you can comfortably run daily for a week. Then every week add an extra ID to your daily run for that week.

End of week 5. 3.5k per day. Went out to dinner last night. No alcohol but a way too big serve of lamb shoulder which jiggled around in my gut for the run this morning. Will remember to avoid lamb shoulder as a pre run snack going forward.

Start of week 4. 2.8k done. Sweating a bit post run but it is an unusually warm morning in Sydney for early Spring.

Day 19 of the 365 day marathon plan. 2.1k. Good smooth surface running on a newish footpath cyclepath next to Pittwater Rd in Ryde Sydney. #runtheworld @worldofrunning.bsky.social

Week 3 running schedule. 2.1k per day. Felt good. No more effort than 1.4K from last week. The plan might be working. But still very early days and chance of breakdown still high.

Day 12 of the 365 day marathon run plan. And almost no time spent in zone 5 “about to have a stroke and/or heart attack” cardio zone. Seems the muscles controlling your breathing and diaphragm are quick to adapt.

Day 9 in the 365 day marathon plan completed. Ran with a metronome going off in my ears. Trying to improve cadence to avoid heel striking. That was as annoying as you would probably guess.

Ok start of marathon training week 2. The arithmetic progression kicks in with this weeks distance bumping up to 1.4K a day. Sadly that’s only around 3.33% of marathon distance. So 7 x 1.4K runs this week with run 1 done with maybe a little less huff & puff.

And looking forward to some golf volunteer gigs at the Australian PGA at The Lakes Golf Club and the Australian Open at Kingston Heath late November early December. The Rory show last year was pretty big at Royal Melbourne. Should be the same this year at Kingston Heath.

Week 1 weather has been ideal. Which makes a big difference when you are trying to cement a habit into place. Springtime in Sydney is perfect for getting outdoors.

At some point will have to implement a limit on kilometres per week otherwise I will breakdown for sure.

Ok gunna get fit. Went to the Sydney Marathon as a spectator last week. Motivated. Have run a few half marathons but never the real deal. Master plan. Up and down my street is 700m. Week 1 do that run every day. Week 2 add another 700m. Week 3 add another 700m. Etc. For 52 weeks. Week 1 done.

Congrats Wyndham. Great tournament.

Wyndham bogies 18 but finishes with a 6 shot lead. He will be in the final group with Scottie tomorrow trying to complete his career slam.

It’s 8.11pm in New York and these guys are almost finishing in the dark. Why don’t they tee off an hour earlier?

You know your lie is shit when you find your ball. And then can’t find it again when you’re ready to hit. Ain’t that so Wyndham?
010
Patrick's golf seat @golfseat.bsky.social · 20/06/2026
Can Scottie do the career slam. It doesn’t happen very often. Rory did it recently. Will we see another unicorn this year?

Crowd size pretty modest at Shinnecock. Are the ticket prices outrageous or is the World Cup stealing fans away?

Scottie. 3 birdies in a row busting a move.

Matt Fitzpatrick has a lot going on with his ball marking. 4 dots of different colours surrounding the logo. He has way too much time on his hands.

A lot of brown patches appearing on the greens. If they don’t apply plenty of water and the wind keeps blowing they will totally dry out. Look out.

Patrick's golf seat @golfseat.bsky.social · 20/06/2026
The greens at Shinnecock are surprisingly lumpy with the ball bouncing very noticeably as it rolls along.

The very difficult 154 yard 11th at Shinnecock was described by Lee Travino as the shortest par 5 in golf. #hilarious

Fitzpatrick brothers. Great tee shot on 17 by Alex. Astonishingly good bunker shot by Matt on 18. Wowzers.

Rory congratulations on an historic achievement. He has got to 6 titles. 9 titles would put him in very very exclusive company. I think he has gas left in the tank for a few more major wins.

Fantastic Saturday round at the Masters today with the leaderboard constantly in flux. Setup for a thrilling final day with so many good players in with a chance. Who will shoot 65 and get it done?

One of my favourite movies High Anxiety and the chauffeur Brody likes to say “got it, got it, ain’t got it”. Just like my golf round earlier this week.

How long will the war in the Middle East continue? No one really knows. But if it carries on indefinitely, Golf Australia should suggest to DP World Tour that the end of season events they host in Nov in the Middle East should be held in Australia as lead up to the Aussie Open at Kingston Heath.

This is pretty cool. Did the carry board shift round 4 Women’s Aussie Open golf when Jiyai Shin won in 2024 at Kingston Heath. She gave me an autographed ball as she walked off the green and thanked me. Hannah Green in the same group did the same. Now I have 2 Aussie Open winner autographed balls.

This is what the fuss is all about. The Patricia Bridges Bowl awarded to the Australian Open Women’s golf champion. Which Hannah Green can now add to her trophy cabinet. Next 3 years the event will be held at Royal Adelaide.

Hannah Green wins the Aussie Open on -11 by a shot from Cassie Porter and Agathe Laisne both on -10. But the real excitement was Cassie Porter. She started day 4 level par. And then did this… That is how you play golf.
