a comic about Goemon's birthday (and also kind of my feelings towards the #LupinIII series/fandom) thank you for being born, beloved samurai 🎂⚔️

A two-page greyscale comic about Lupin the Third, Jigen Daisuke and Fujiko Mine celebrating Goemon Ishikawa the Thirteenth's birthday.

Fujiko and Jigen dance in a room adorned with traditional Japanese lanterns, confetti, a record player and a variety of snacks and drinks. In the foreground, Goemon pensively sighs into his sake cup. Lupin asks, "What's wrong, Go-go? This party not 'spiritual' enough for ya?"

Goemon darkly mutters, "I..." then raises his head to reveal a bright smile, and finishes: "...am very much enjoying it, actually!"

Goemon clarifies, "I was merely thinking..."

"I wish we could've all met each other earlier. I regret not getting to enjoy your company for longer..." In Goemon's thought bubble, young teenage versions of him, Lupin and Jigen are riding a motorcycle along the outskirts of 1960s Tokyo, with Lupin steering and Goemon sitting proudly on his shoulders while Jigen perches behind them.

Lupin puts his hand on Goemon's shoulder and says, "Aw, ain't that sweet! But if there's one thing I've learned in all my years of quick getaways, it's that there's no use dwelling on what COULD'VE happened..." Lupin gets up from his chair and continues, "all that matters is what DID happen. And what happened was..."

Goemon stands up and turns around with wide, sparkling eyes as he sees the smiling Fujiko, Jigen and Lupin, who finishes: "...we DID meet, and we're here together NOW".

Fujiko adds: "Wouldn't trade that for the world!" Jigen concurs, "Here here!"

Lupin asks, "So what does the birthday boy want to happen next?"

Goemon raises his hand to his chin and smirks, then says: "I want... to make up for lost time... in style."

A little later, Goemon rides on top of Lupin's Fiat 500 through a shopping district, with Fujiko following on her motorcycle. While the shoppers gasp and run out of the way, Goemon laughs with joy as he uses his sword to slash through a confetti ball that had been hanging above the road.

the comic i made for the @goesbirth.bsky.social zine!! check it out here if you haven't already it turned out incredible: ko-fi.com/sofgrunge/shop #lupiniii #lupinthethird #goemon #comic #dagmartoons

Page 1- Goemon walking alone in the rain with blood splatters on his clothes, a cut on his left cheek and bloody footprints behind him. Text reads "THE WALK HOME by dagmartoons."

Page 2- Goemon continues walking until a light shines on him. He lifts an arm up to his face to block the light and looks surprised when he sees where it's coming from (the Fiat).

Page 3- The Fiat's car window rolls down and out pops a smiling Lupin. Jigen is smirking in the driver's seat. Goemon recognizes the two and smiles, ending the comic.

Text: "Hey there, handsome! Need a ride?"
