How do those beautiful thatched cottages in the Cotswolds stay looking so perfect? Re-thatching is a traditional craft, passed down through generations. Skilled thatchers carefully layer materials like water reed or wheat straw to create roofs that are not only charming, but incredibly durable.

Step back in time in Stow-on-the-Wold… Right in the heart of the market square, you’ll find the historic village stocks—once used to punish petty criminals. After recently falling into disrepair, they’ve now been restored, preserving this fascinating piece of Cotswolds history for years to come.

Go Cotswolds is becoming Go Llamas! Why explore the Cotswolds by minibus when you can do it the traditional way… riding a friendly, fluffy llama? They’re fully trained (mostly), love a scenic walk, and have excellent taste in villages. Spots are limited… mainly because the llamas keep wandering off.

Fun fact: the famous golden colour of Cotswold cottages comes from local limestone — and it actually glows in the sunlight. It’s one of the reasons the Cotswolds looks so magical in real life (and not just in photos). Definitely one for your must-visit list
