If your 9to5 is running agents and feel your brain is softening, try this: "Give me a practical task from you so I can implement it. As a task owner, are going to review the code. With the task, also provide the test suit to test the completeness of the task." #softwaredevelopment #learning

Content Warning - NSFW I’ve been asked to join pair programming with 2 other devs to help them configure an env. I opened .bashrc in Vim, exported a few variables, fixed the $PATH and a few aliases, and :wq. The response I didn’t expect to get was: “Why didn’t you ask Claude Code?” No comments 🫪

Got a #RaspberryPi Pico 2. Tried writing firmware in #Rust. Got the firmware. Got everything compiling. Flashed just to see that my Pi is crash looping. Single LED flash on my #FlipperZero and 1B reading from GP0 pin. Still cool, negative progress is still a progress.🤞🏻 #opensource

After a year of #rust projects, 3.14GB of compiled crates accumulated on a MacBook. I found `cargo-cache` to intelligently manage this cache. It avoids deleting all cached dependencies by praising re-extracting local archives instead of re-downloading from the internet. #softwaredevelopement

Your dream setup mostly sucks. I used to be one of those developers who cared about the aesthetics of my desk. The mechanical keyboard, the ergonomic mouse, the soft pad, the light... all to fix an if. The "dream setup" is a gimmick. Try going #minimal. #softwareegineering

One thing I wasn't expecting to see at a DevFest was the Clockwork uConsole. It’s such an amazing, geeky little tool based on the Raspberry Pi CM4, it’s completely customizable and extendable. True discussion starter 🎙️

I ran into a trouble while trying to clean up my GitHub repos. GitHub doesn’t provide a UI for a bulk delete. You’re forced to navigate a long sequence of menus for each repo to remove. I put together a small Python script to automate the process. github.com/crusty0gphr/... #python #tool

Learn C but work with Go/Rust/Zig. C teaches why memory, pointers matter. They teach a hardware aware mindset. But modern engineering demands abstractions without footguns. I’m for learning C as core to CS, but I'd rather spend less time on low-level details. #golang #rust #zig

How legacy code always seems to end up as one big mess? It's a buildup of all those "temp" expedient shortcuts we take under pressure. Connections in the system get so twisted that no one can reason out the consequences of a change. That's when the fun stops and the headaches begin. #Programming

TODO is a 𝗧otally 𝗢ptional, 𝗗elay 𝗢pportunity. Every single TODO is a precious promise we made to our future selves that they'd be too busy fighting new fires to ever dig up that old code. Honestly, we're not procrastinating, we're just spelling 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗗𝗢 with a fewer letters. #Programming #meme

Go's simple imperative loops make data transformations verbose & error-prone, but Rust's .map(), .filter(), & .fold() offer better composability, leading to more maintainable code. See screenshots comparing both languages. #go #golang #rust #programming #debate

In addition to the direct memory manipulations in Go, here's how to manually allocate memory for a struct using the unsafe package without relying on high-level built-in allocation functions like new() or make(). Ugly, but doable 😉 #go #golang #tip #programmin
