Here's what she said right before that, in case anyone was wondering if this is harmful to the public perception of trans people. Not at all, apparently.

Nicole Maines: Well I'd just seen you pondering that since it was a pre-transition character, it wasn't as bad as a man playing a woman, so I wasn't sure where you were coming from.

Parker Molloy: I mean, I do think that. I think that Jared Leto going out there and cementing the idea of "hey look, a big masculine man in a dress! This is what a trans woman looks like!" is much more damaging than having a cis girl play a pre-everything trans boy in terms of how harmful it is.

Parker Molloy: This is more one of those "what a bummer. Sure would have been great had some trans boy gotten the role. Missed chance for representation, etc." types of things, vs. "oh shit, this misleads and damages how the public views trans people" type things in my opinion.

People in the replies trying to litigate this like "well maybe SOME sex scenes are okay if they aren't just there to make people horny" and I am here to say that I think it's fine if the purpose of a sex scene is to titillate, actually!
