Dreaming of Azure Pools. This was exceptionally challenging, but rewarding to see it through. Overall, this was an awesome experience and a good reminder of a few lessons that I need to keep in mind as I dive into more complex illustrations! [ #art #furryart #taur #elk]

And as I've progressed, it's slowly beginning to take shape. Each pen stroke feels like a step in the right direction! So, don't feel massive pressure to succeed if something isn't speaking to you. Lean into the discomfort and walk with it; you may surprise yourself with the outcome!

And it's been working well! Walking with my disappointment and inviting the emotion into the process has opened the door again to fun and exploration. I'm allowing myself to get lost in subtle details that really support the work.

As a result, I found myself grappling and fighting with this piece. Trying to free its potential from the canvas and coming up after a few hours of work, exhausted and frustrated. It just isn't sustainable. So I had to try a new method, what if I accepted that this is a stepping stone?

Kell @gmkell.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

I thought I had leveled up, and I did! But I find myself in a space where my eye is ahead of my hand. I see the imperfections, but I'm not sure how to fix them yet. And this isn't a bad place to be; It means I'm on the cusp of a big leap forward!

Kell @gmkell.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

I find myself disappointed with my current piece. I want to talk about it, in hopes that my thoughts may help someone else. When I started this, I had a very clear vision for where I was going with it and quite grand expectations. After all, I was riding a high from my last two pieces!

Vending a few conventions has really taught me a lot and given me a bunch of new ideas for products. Thanks in part to a lot of feedback from other vendors! Really excited to be coming to the end of my commissions queue to get working in them!

Moon Unchaining. I got a neat comment at Stratosfur about how some of my pieces worked so well because of complementary color palettes. Granted, several folks had mentioned that, but I guess it took another mention to really drive it home! [ #art #furryart #furry #fox #TTRPG]

Dawning. (Commission for @myxomatosis.bsky.social) When I make art, I pick a song and post lyrics that inspired the title. Sometimes the work transports me to a serene place, so I named it Dawning, a song by Yasmin Williams. [#art #furryart #furry #martern #illustration]

Deiv is a Riot-slash-artist, and that style is something I aspire to reach one day, so I figured what better than to do a study of his work! Deiv has done a lot of really cool work, so if you enjoy his stuff, consider checking it out and supporting him!

Lady Maria Master Study! Super pleased to have finished this one out over the past week! I wanna give huge credit to Deiv Calviz; you can find his stuff here (deivcalviz.artstation.com/projects) and the original work here (deivcalviz.artstation.com/projects/ZGo...).

I am trying to divorce myself from the idea that everything I put on social media needs to be perfect. I want to prove that anyone can pick up a pen and create. In that spirit, I'll start posting my studies here so folks can see my own growing pains and start their own journeys.

Nowhere Man. Updated Nay'em's design to a more polished look that better fits him! This is the first time I've sat down and repainted a character. The shapes and colors work way better on a second pass! Named this one after my favorite Beatles song >:3 [ #art #furryart #jackal #DnD #Beastworld]
