I've been saying this for years, environmental hazards, and interactive objects will make your encounters way more memorable than whatever HP Sponge you sit by itself in the middle of an arena

This is a great opportunity to compare the headline they use to get you to click through to the actual substance of the article. These aren't dire wolves. They're gene-edited "99.9% grey wolves." This isn't a scientific breakthrough, it's CRISPR editing with a marketing wing.

is that the one where people were giving their characters comedically large phalluses, phalli? whats the proper plural for that....this feels like a sheep or sheeps situation.

very true, i wanted to like savage worlds, and i appreciate it when I read it, it just has never been fun when I've gotten it to the table, had experienced GMs for it and everything, it was def on my side of things.

GM Duality Complex @gmdualitycomplex.bsky.social · 10/02/2025

I honestly can't say I had any positive experiences playing savage worlds, I gave it a couple attempts and I wanted to like the system but I just couldn't it didn't vibe with me.

Ahh my lack of coffee brain must have missed that part.

a campaign setting with all the mechanics stripped sounds terribly boring to me, like most 5e materials soulless and without anything that makes them unique. I have this beef with Dragonlance and Planescape as well.

I think one of them might have been but at least 5 or 6 of them were just people who don't understand that no means no, and one of them actually got me to snap at them a bit in DMs.

I'm just gonna put this out there, Yes I would love to see your art, and thank you for the digital business card should I ever want to commission you, but could you not send me messages every day on discord begging me to have you draw something when I've politely said no a dozen times already.

I'm gonna end up serving multiple life sentences

000

GM Duality Complex @gmdualitycomplex.bsky.social · 03/02/2025

I've always wanted to approach it from a lore side of things personally, but i agree it's overblown and I think sometimes it's done for escalations sake to get more engagement

000

GM Duality Complex @gmdualitycomplex.bsky.social · 03/02/2025

I personally prefer a straight point buy for all abilities and stats with species and background being flavor text

000

GM Duality Complex @gmdualitycomplex.bsky.social · 03/02/2025

9ft tall 400lb creature stronger than 4ft tall 70lb creature ok, but it's that way because insert problematic lore we got a problem.

110

GM Duality Complex @gmdualitycomplex.bsky.social · 03/02/2025

But i have more difficulty saying that the gnome and the hippo should have the same str based on them both being soldiers. I also view most problems with this topic to be more centered on the lore side than mechanics tbh

110

GM Duality Complex @gmdualitycomplex.bsky.social · 03/02/2025

So is it more or less acceptable to say all members of this social standing have these traits all the time? Or would a straight point buy system for stats and special abilities be a route? I personally see a big difference between a hippo humanoid and a gnome, I'm okay with str disparity there,

GM Duality Complex @gmdualitycomplex.bsky.social · 02/02/2025

At this point I'd rather just a giant meteor reset the planet back to zero, maybe a good plague, gamma ray burst, I unno, something.

She is someone I'm watching closely, I feel she's going to be a huge positive influence moving forward.

000

GM Duality Complex @gmdualitycomplex.bsky.social · 02/02/2025

Why is it better for a persons abilities and attributes be locked in that way rather than species? Does this not create the same problematic issues but with a different layer of paint? Do you still want items tied to species/background or would you rather a point buy system where you pick items

100

GM Duality Complex @gmdualitycomplex.bsky.social · 02/02/2025

No one wants to go first? Okay. Since 5e has come out many aspects of a character tied to their species have been removed, and we get either shifts like the one above, or they move them to background, which places all the negative aspects into a persons social standing rather than species, discuss

I am posting this meme as a discussion item. What do you think about it? Were you around for the old days or are you completely new to the game? What are your thoughts here?
