Today would have been my wife’s 70th birthday. I took her some special flowers and her favorite cupcake.

Went for a walk today with my camera, and happened upon this groundhog having a little snack :)

I can’t remember exactly how deep I buried it in the code- you definitely wouldn’t have found the code phrase without decompiling or stepping through the debugger. And I have a feeling since the name Glenda wasn’t known to anyone else, I probably took some effort to not keep that in plaintext.

That was part of the fun of doing it, knowing they were the stripper posters before 😂

Glenda Adams @gmatom.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

Yes, the Easter egg graphics I put in the Mac version were in Mac only data files (or the app’s resource fork). The game did use the original PC data files unmodified for the main game stuff.

When I lost my wife to cancer four years ago, after 25 years together, Glenda Rabbit was cremated with her so she’d have part of me would always be there. I still keep Suellen Rabbit near me every night. When I’m gone, Suellen Rabbit will be cremated with me. 2/2

Another detail on the bunny in the easter egg. When my wife and I were dating, we lived in different states. I bought two identical bunnies, sent one to her and kept the other. Hers was “Glenda Rabbit“, mine was ”Suellen Rabbit”. This way we’d have something to hold when we couldn’t be together. 1/2

Yes, that was me as well 😊 I was the sole programmer on Duke 3D Mac.

The bunny was one I bought for my wife while we were dating, the cow was a Valentine’s Day present she gave me around the same time ❤️.

I literally just got mine a few minutes ago, while at my doctor for a checkup. I did not get cool bandaids like those 😢

Today I was tagged by a user on Mastodon who discovered this long lost cheat code. I still have the plush bunny and cow from the photos- the rabbit was a present I gave my wife, and the cow was a silly valentines thing she sent me while were dating.2/2 mastodon.social/@Dandu/11725...

OMG. 29 years ago I put an Easter egg in Duke Nukem 3D Mac, that replaced two of the in-game posters with pictures of a couple plush animals I had. I never told anyone other than my wife about the code (DNGLENDA) and completely forgot I did this. 1/2

Finished another classic Mac cross-stitch project, recreating the splash screen from the “Alice“ chess game, Through the Looking Glass. The last photo is the original Mac graphic I based the pattern on. Even nailed the stray pixels 🙂. It’s 1 to 1 pixels to stitches. #NerdStitch

Took about a year, but I finished my cross-stitch tribute to the class Amiga Deluxe Paint King Tut. It’s 180x200 stitches, about 34,000 non-black tiny thread X’s 🙂 #NerdStitch

It was a frozen day in Whoville, but still had fun running the Run Santa 5k. I met the Grinch (and yes, that's the Weinermobile behind us!) and got some treats.

Oh you are telling me!🙂If I had a true time turner to go back and pass on those games, I would have. Luckily they were Unreal Engine ports, so very quick and easy, and I have little memory of the actual work now. I do remember JKR had to personally approve the ports, whatever the hell that meant!
