I only set myself low targets, so I don't care when I fail to achieve them

Even if everyone on a cycle or driving a motor vehicle was an absolute (insert word), then the damage that could possibly be caused by cyclists would always be less than drivers of motor vehicles. 10kg @ 20mph vs 1500kg @ 100mph

There's a few cycle tracks in Greater London that can be reinstated to increase this network www.britishcycletracks.com/cycle-track/...

Southend Arterial Road, 20+ Miles Romford to Southend
“Here is the Southend Arterial Road on a wet day,” intones the snarky narrator of a police road safety film released in 1947.

The work on Gallows Corner has significantly reduced the number of motor vehicles on my cycle journey along the A12. I'm happy 😊 It is ridiculous how long it's taking though. I'm presuming they skipped the whole "planning" stage?

My Wife and 8 year old Daughter got hit by a car, speeding on the wrong side of the road at a junction, when they were on a bicycle causing injuries to back and face of both. Ambulance said they should have been wearing a helmet. GP said the driver was probably running late. Police said no offences

I remember the days of cycling 15 miles to London, when there were no cycle highways, no bus lanes, just stay close to the kerb and breath in those fuel emissions. Things are definitely better!

I'm all in favour of these, but it does require motorists to know what white paint on the road means. It's scary how many don't!

You could have 10 year olds being held to account for their decision making and potentially face life imprisonment

So the law regarding dangerous driving and careless/inconsiderate driving uses the term "careful & competent". The measure can be pulled from your driving test i.e. would you have done this on your test? But there is no test for cycles. Children can cycle. Who decides the threshold??

You just reminded me - is the Ilford bound part of the new segregated cycle track officially open between Toronto & Colchester Avenue? Looks like it is

I actually had a motorists asking about the benefits of cycling in London, compared to driving, whilst stopped at the lights a few days ago. He was genuinely fed up with driving.

Isn't it still a road traffic offence for HGV's to drive on the pavement/footway? I'm presuming they made it an offence in case they a) hit someone, or b) ruin the pavement like this. Do you know if it was reported to Police? 🤔

If a majority of motorists knew how to drive, then it wouldn't be required. Until then - it's proportionate

Thanks, I'll have a look. I get more notifications from surrounding Boroughs than I do from my own 🤦🏻‍♂️

That looks great 👌🏼 Can finally be reassured about my eldest cycling across this section of road. Previously had to just step out, as no motorists would let us cross - or anyone else for that matter

This bus crashed in to a theatre in Southwark a couple of days ago. Mind you - it wasn't wearing a high viz jacket

This must be AI, as I have been told by hundreds of motorists that cyclists (as in, every single one of them) never stop at red lights. This group of cyclists are also in a cycle lane, not on a pavement. It has to be fake 😆

They must have plans to link Romford to Ilford on the C2 Cycleway. Ironically, I imagine the most feasible route for Ilford Centre will be through the High Road, where cycles are currently not allowed

This is fantastic news! 👏🏼 This can't have been easy, but you have managed to persevere and overturn the previous decision, which should be the foundation for other schemes across London. Thank you

I do hope there is sufficient momentum to get national improvements for cycling over the line. I can't help but feel there are more pressing issues they'll fling their money at though. But then, there's always more pressing issues 🤷🏻‍♂️

This #BikeWeek try out a cargo bike for free! The Our Bike from @peddlemywheels.bsky.social at Dalston Square can be hired for free for 60 mins for residents and 180 mins for businesses. Borrowing something big from the Dalston Library of Things then use the cargo bike. Can carry passengers too!

Absolutely. Waste trucks can no longer get down my cul de sac due to vehicles getting wider a narrowing the gap in the middle. This also applies to emergency vehicles. No one who should care seems to care though. What can we do? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm surprised the speed limit sign doesn't get a mention. A lot of motorists don't seem to understand these

Police commander Julian Bennett sacked for second time after refusing drugs test
Following the ruling, the Met Police says Julian Bennett had been suspended on full pay "for an extraordinary length of time" and Londoners will be "outraged... at the utter waste of public funds".

I'm interested, and you'll know the answer to this, what happened to the Ardleigh Green railway bridge being renovated and the path widened for cyclists? I remember reading this in the plans. No mention or signage since. Is it shared use? 🤔

I'm hoping they'll reinstate the cycle tracks along the A12/A127, which were built during the 1930s. Most are still there, as you must surely be aware

Everthing about that project indicates that no consideration was given to cyclists until after it had been built
