It displays as Lake Ontario in Canada, Lake America in the US, and shows both names everywhere else. However it displays in the map, the screenshot below is in Canada from a regular search. It shows both. It’s an appropriate time for Canadians to move away from google services

I enjoyed the description of the American offer as “a ruinously stupid new reality chiselled forever into stone in comic sans.”

We still do not know exactly what was on the table last week when Prime Minister Mark Carney walked away from a new trade deal with the United States, effectively returning fire in what is now a trade war with our erstwhile best friend and the largest economy in the history of the world. But we do know enough to say this: Carney made the right call.

What the U.S. was demanding wasn’t a trade deal. It was a capitulation. It would have entrenched Canada as a vassal state, locking in terms certain to make both our countries poorer and accepting that this chaotic status quo is not an aberration but a new paradigm, a ruinously stupid new reality chiselled forever into stone in comic sans.

It is still possible the latter will prove true. The American people have elected Donald Trump president twice. Just two years ago, they endorsed his vision of a new global economy based not on trust and mutual benefit but on bullying and tariffs.

We cannot dictate whom Americans vote for or why. Nor can we assume that they will make better choices in the future. We can’t count, in other words, on things going back to the way they were. Like everyone else in the world, we have to accept things as they are. And for Canadians, right now, that means pushing back, standing up and saying, enough.

You can see the red peeking out from behind the cyan line in the closeup. Looks like those numbers tracked the no conviction line and were low. Not surprising, since immigrants are less likely to commit crimes, and violent crimes were more likely to land someone in jail for a protracted stay.
