I would argue the plot got lost approximately 40 miles ago.

#formtober2026 My Big Fish :) I have since added some botanica-style glitchy wibbles and a few other things but it's still pretty close to this.

If you are planning to get into the music industry in the UK, please try not to, I need that spot, seriously, I have no other skills, you probably do, please let me have this

#formtober2026 The first prompt for this one-person exquisite corpse is "the very pulse of the machine"

So August's date didn't go ahead due to being let down (by my own brain), but September 1st is on for sure.

What people use AI for tells you what they don't respect, whether that's authors, artists, designers, coders, filmmakers, women, children, and most of all, themselves.

Hearing Things was started by some ex-Pitchfork writers and staffers, a lot of its stuff is paywalled though

Arctic Monkeys' best albums are the wild left turn multiples of 3. Whatever People Say I Am was what it was, Favourite Worst Nightmare was iterating on that, and then Humbug was a wild left turn. Two more iterations, and then another wild left turn with Tranquility Base.

I'm pledging to get to 10 live shows by the end of the year. I might be opening for someone in October at a local show. I'm aiming to do two open mics a month minimum from August.

I never wanted to be my own boss. I'm not very ambitious. The first time I put in a little effort in the local music scene, I got people excited about my songs and I've been able to play a paid show. When 99% of job applications ghost you, can you blame me for thinking this is more worthwhile?

Given that there's supposedly 140 candidates for every graduate job, the odds of me becoming a successful singer-songwriter feel higher, given that I have made more money from music and perfoming in the last three years than the last all of the rest of my life.

I went to an arts fundraising meeting and of course applications with part-funding are preferable, but someone said that the ACE grant success rate has dropped to ONLY 25%. My response was basically, "That's low? I wish I had that odds of getting a part time job. That's extremely good odds!"

I'm not big enough yet to do a Kickstarter for my first album. I want it out before I turn 30 which means that I have less than a year and a half. I have a budget of zero, I thought I'd be able to get a day job to supplement it but the day job has not materialised for over four years now.

Hey, I've not got anything on until next month.

My first solo show, as part of the Harwich Festival. People turned up, they liked it, I was in tune the whole time.

There are so many things I'm insecure about. My baritone range which would've been fine if I wanted to be in a rock band, I can't play any instruments proficiently, I need to have a debut album by 30, I hate being a man, I'm poor at networking, and I'm not confident I sound "professional" enough.

The submissions-based netlabel I had some songs released through has shut down after some unsavoury circumstances. With that said, given what happened, it's good that it's gone, and I'll be working to get those songs available again as soon as I can.

It's poster for my upcoming show! Not long now.

A poster for a Gliss Disc solo show dated 27th of June 2026. The main image is of the artist in a blue, glass-clear PVC coat, standing on a beach while echo trails of themselves blur past in the background. A giant spiky voxel shape looms high in the sky under the name "GLISS DISC". There is location and booking information, along with the description "Singer-songwriter electropop for a wide range of moods".

What is a beach but endless tiny shards of golden glass?
