my error, apologies, i have downloaded and compared in 30min detail and over a few months there were 40kwh of imports recorded during 30min periods that also recorded an export. the diff' was so small i had missed it before. thanks for the link to the spec that confirms that this is correct.

Gee, it gets confusing quick. I am not sure my friend could even tell you what 3 phase was.... I will try to get a meter/s download from them.
010
Glenne Drover @glenne.bsky.social · 10/01/2025
Correct, also the controlled load is night time.
000
Glenne Drover @glenne.bsky.social · 10/01/2025
Correct, at the moment they have two Meters. A 3 phase for house load and 3p PV, and a single phase for the controlled load HWS. Will move the HPHWS to a power circuit on the 3 phase meter.

My 6yo 3.6kw HWS was using ~10kwh/d. So when my friend complained about power use I went straight for the controlled load number, and friends controlled load 1,060kwh/90days matched perfectly. Hopefully friends HPHWS will be installed soon.
100
Glenne Drover @glenne.bsky.social · 10/01/2025
Yes that sounds the same as my HPHWS, 1kwh/d when I am away and 3 to 4kwh/d when I am home.

Glenne Drover @glenne.bsky.social · 09/01/2025
Friend wondered why bill had not reduced massively with 10kw PV. I looked at bill. 90 days house 700kwh, 17yo storage night time controlled HWS 1,009kwh. Lol. Gave the solar Vic.gov.au link, that should be gone in a few weeks for HPHWS that will run in PV hours.

In this instance my friend's 3 phase meter (Powercor) has only 2 registers. One is recording imports, and 1 is recording exports. I do not have the meter data download to see if gives extra data.
210
Glenne Drover @glenne.bsky.social · 09/01/2025
Yes but my meter can only record the sum of import-export, i.e. one number. My son meter can record separate import and export, i.e. two numbers, resulting in different bills for the same consumption pattern.

Glenne Drover @glenne.bsky.social · 09/01/2025
my son pays for 2kwh import = 80c, less 1kwh export 3.3c = total 76.7cents. i just pay for 1kWh import, 40cents...

Glenne Drover @glenne.bsky.social · 09/01/2025
in my son's house meter is recording both an import and an export in the same 30 min billing period. BUT at my house the Smart Meter is only recording the net flow for each 30min and billing based on that. so ex if both houses import 2kw in 1st 20min and export 1kW in last 10min, different bills! /2

Glenne Drover @glenne.bsky.social · 09/01/2025
just the billing by the Retailer i am trying to be sure off.
100
Glenne Drover @glenne.bsky.social · 09/01/2025
What does the Retailer see in the smart meter data if the house is using 4kW on each of only 2 phases, 0kw on the 3rd phase, and the PV is generating 2kw into each of the 3 phases? What is the bill for 30min of 40c import, 3.3c export..?
100
Glenne Drover @glenne.bsky.social · 09/01/2025
Gee that is sad....! Next question is for a 3 phase PV inverter into a 3 phase smart meter, but the house loads seem to only be spread across 2 of the 3 phases. /2
