Yorkshire Post, Stourbridge Glass - my Writing Week
This week has been wonderful.  I've been on a research trip to Stourbridge in the West Midlands, to the home of glassmaking for research of my next saga.  10 years ago today - 2 October 2016 - the first episode of my soap opera Riverside was published in The People's Friend magazine. It changed my life! I was snapped up by a top literary agent and have since written 8 Ryhope sagas, Toffee Factory Girls trilogy and 5 cosy crimes! My new Scarborough cosy crime was spotted top of the pile in Scarborough Waterstones, what joy! Bookish Jottings reviewed the book and there's is a wonderful one to read here. The book was celebrated in a feature in The Yorkshire Post newspaper. Now, there's posh! Scarborough legend Pam Pie (aka one half of the award-winning Isolation Creations) loves my books too!  Watch Pam's reel here. And watch my reel here, all about my new book! The book was featured in The Bookseller magazine as a paperback preview for December.  Back to my historical sagas, there was a sterling review of Celebrations at the Toffee Factory in Bookish Jottings.  Read it all here.  There's also an interview with me here. I crafted another episode of my weekly soap opera Riverside for The People's Friend magazine. I've been writing Riverside weekly since 2016. Book Launch, Radio, Research - My Writing Week
This week was the release in hardback, ebook and audio of my new Scarborough cosy crime - Music to Die For at the Seaview Hotel.   TripFiction website rates it "cosy crime at its best" and you can read the full review here. The book is available in all good bookshops and online. Here it is in Scarborough Waterstones. I was interviewed on Sunderland University radio station Spark FM by DJ Nathan Stronach. While at the University, I used the library for researching my next novel, The Glassmaker's Girl. My newsletter for September was sent out with a competition to win a signed book and a 99p offer. You can read it online here. New banners arrived for talks on my next two novels, one cosy crime and one saga. An upcoming talk at The Word in South Shields was included in The Shields Gazette. And The Crack magazine Anfield Plain Library in County Durham had a wonderful display of my books, thank you! My novel The Toffee Factory Girls is just 99p this month too! Download it here. And finally this week I visited two local shops who sell my books and restocked my shelves, where the books fly off each week!  These shops are Fru Fru & Friends in Grangetown, Sunderland and The Petal Patch in Ryhope, Sunderland. I crafted another episode of my weekly soap opera Riverside for The People's Friend magazine. I've been writing Riverside weekly since 2016. Music to Die For at the Seaview Hotel - out TODAY!
My new novel is out today!  It's a cosy crime set in Scarborough and is called Music to Die For at the Seaview Hotel. It's published by Headline. My cosy crime series was shortlisted for Best New Crime Series with Richard Osman and Val McDermid in the Dead Good Readers Awards. They're translated into Spanish and Italian too! The new book stars Eighties pop band The A64 who reunite for the gig of a lifetime at Scarborough's Open Air Theatre, and Helen Dexter is overjoyed when they book into her Seaview Hotel.  However, as old tensions rise within the band, it's clear each musician has something to hide. Why is lead singer Starr running away from her past? Why is Pete the drummer secretive about where he's been for the last forty years? And when guitarist Dave breaks his legs in a freak window-cleaning accident, a new guitarist arrives, causing even discord.  Then, as the band rehearse for their comeback gig, a dead body is found. an Seaview Hotel landlady Helen Dexter and her rescue greyhound Suki hit the right note and solve the crime?
