I’m about to release a beta 2.0 version of my old macOS MessagesHistoryBrowser. It’s pretty much a complete rewrite, from AppKit to SwiftUI, with some added some features, and a very significant speed improvement on the initial messages import. All of this was done through Claude Code, I haven’t […]

Ah, forgot to brag about this : 2000 days of closing my rings.

I’m currently updating my old app MessagesHistoryBrowser (a macOS app to help browse and search into your iMessages chats) using Claude in Xcode agent mode, and it’s doing most of the job quite well, but on the other hand, I’m not really learning anything about the SwiftUI rewrite and […]

I asked Siri AI “I have a linksys velop mesh wifi, can you find when I purchased it ?” and it found out the correct answer by looking through my email archives. And now I know it’s not unreasonable to consider upgrading it 😅.

Being in the EU, I don't have access to Siri AI on my iPhone, but I could set it up on macOS and it's pretty darn great. Feels like the Siri promise is finally fulfilled, or almost. Some stuff still missing, like not being able to search in some apps (OmniFocus ?) or not being able to create […]

I finished watching the fan-made documentary about Star Trek Voyager, “To The Journey” : memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/To_The… . It's really great, perhaps not as enticing as the one about DS9 but still very much worth your time if you're a Star […]

Also, the iPhone Duo is really impressive from a design point of view. Apple again took an existing concept and brought it up to a whole new level. #AppleEvent

So no iPhone 18 ? And the iPhone Duo is really impressive. I guess that it takes the place of the “Pro" in the lineup, and the iPhone 18 Pro is what the iPhone 18 would be. #AppleEvent .

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in a mobile app, storing an auth token unencrypted on the device is considered a security risk, right ?

I recently learned that Dr. James Dobson, founder of "Focus on the family", was mentored by eugenicist Paul Popenoe, and that reminds me of how all fascists want to "drive weakness out of children" by beating them.

I just implemented a new API call on the app I'm working on by prompting Cursor with something like “implement the API defined in this PR <pr_url>” with the PR being the one that implemented it on the backend. It worked.

Odyssey is a great movie, and beyond the diverse cast the whole story is bound to fly way, way above the heads MAGA/Musk people. Supergirl is not that good a movie, certainly not as bad as the manosphere depicts it, but the story just doesn't "click". The actress is incredible, however, and […]

I watched the Halo tv series, it's rather disappointing. Action sequences are cool, all spartany and stuff, but the story is really messy, and they reach the Halo only at the last episode.

Following up on this, from the short videos I see from the Croisette, it seems Cannes Lions is overtaking the Film Festival as "Cannes' big event", at least in terms of props and decorations. #canneslions #canneslions2026

Living next to Cannes, for about 20 years I've done a photo walk for each Film Festival. It's quite striking how much it has downsized in that interval. Much less decorations, temporary builds on the beaches, less people too. #cannesfilmfestival #Cannes2026 #cannes

I've just finished watching Star Trek Discovery, and it was really good (even if the "disco Klingons" in S1 are quite a bit over-the-top, and the cause of “The Burn” is rather silly). More than anything, it's the characteristic wistfulness I now feel, which only comes after ending a good tv […]

I thoroughly enjoyed Star Trek: Starfleet Academy S1, which makes me even sadder that it's been cancelled. I hope for S2 we get to see Lura Thok kicking some ass in a fight, at least.

@danyork Apple are the ones I had in mind in my previous toot. If there's a company that can pull this off, it's them. For all their many shortcomings, one thing they don't screw around with is privacy.

@danyork as they should since there's obviously a pretty large market for those... so whoever creates AR glasses that are privacy oriented is going to win big.

On the other hand, I also started to watch ST: Strange New Worlds, and it really is “good Star Trek”. Not just action but thinking and pondering stuff. The idea to start with Pike knowing his fate is also pretty clever, and gives depth to the character. I remain on the fence regarding ST […]

About Star Trek: Section 31 : I tend to be wary of fans hating a movie or series of their franchise, it's generally because it doesn't fit the cherished image they have of it. But in this case, it's really true : this movie is really quite bad, the story hardly makes sense, and most of all it […]

Following up on my new Kotlin experience, I think that Koin, a commonly used dependency injection framework, causes way more problems than it solves, especially with ViewModels. I don't think it's worth the hassle.

A bit of added irony : AIs like Claude, before doing big jobs like this, are pretty much replacing Google for tech questions like "how do I do <X> in <platform Y>", which wouldn't be so prevalent if Google hadn't purposely worsen their search to increase profit.

I've been coding in Kotlin at work for a couple of months now, still a novice (thanks Claude.ai for answering many questions). I often seen claims about how Swift has become a bloated mess due to committee design, AFAIK Kotlin is not committee designed, but it's also a bloated mess (and less […]

When switching to a new iPhone, you can tell there's extensive effort from Apple to ensure you don't lose any data in the process. In contrast, WhatsApp doesn't care at all that you're likely to lose messages if your last backup isn't recent enough.

I hadn't logged on Discord in years (last time was in 2019 on the Vapor discord to get some help) and boy did the enshittification exploded since then 😕. The UI is an agressive mess that looks like a video game, pop-ups about stuff I couldn't care less about, and attention-grabbing animations.
