Trump's Venezuela oil deal needs prices to stay high just to break even, around 80 dollars a barrel, nearly 10 times Saudi's cost and way above Russia's. So this deal "works" is in a price environment that hands Russia and Saudi Arabia massive margins, while Americans keep paying more at the pump.

It depends up that state of the oil plundered from Venezuela. If it is just crude, unrefined oil, the only way that oil is marketable is if oil prices stay high. Venezuelan oil is far far more expensive to refine than Saudi or Russian oil. So, in order for Trump to “win” Russia wins more.
