I still liked the opening credits showing Jim rock climbing. I liked Bones stressing from afar. A lot of it was shot well and had nice colors, though there were some moments it felt too dark to see much. And I liked how it chose to focus on the main trio. God I really wanted to like this movie.

I promise that I went into each of these movies expecting the same thing. I wasn’t expecting to be on cloud nine after The Voyage Home yet it made me so surprisingly happy. I wasn’t expecting to be irritated the rest of the night after The Final Frontier yet that happened too.

I read in Doohan’s book that, instead of only doing one or two takes for a scene like he’s used to, Shatner had him redo it over and over and over again until he was satisfied. It makes me wonder how often that happened for the other actors…

I will always be mad at this movie for starting the ScottyxUhura ship that even SNW is apparently doing. There was no foundation to build so it came out of nowhere. Also I’m personally not fond that the one lady of the crew became a love interest for one of the main guys. I liked the friendship.

There are so many elements here that I like on paper, it’s just the execution that was done so poorly. The dialogue was weird and aside from Shatner’s performance everybody felt off to me. A lot of the jokes didn’t land either. This is the only time I felt that Spock felt off in the whole series.

I’d probably rewatch The Motion Picture if I really wanted to but it’s very slow for a lot of it. Though there are some moments I really loved from it and it was fun seeing the crew get back together. Overall I would call it weak, not bad.

Bonus drawings of Scotty treating this as another project he can perfect. It’s fun writing dialogue for them :)

A drawing of Jim leaning over Scotty sitting in a chair. He’s practicing the tying of the red rope he’ll be using for Jim’s bondage. On the table is basically an old manual they found for it and a glass of alcohol. Jim is also holding a glass in his hand. Jim asks “How’s the tying practice going, hon?” with a pervy blush and smile on his face. Scotty, still looking at his work, replies with “Oh…best it can with a missin’ finger.”.

I love giving Scotty a missing finger like what his actor had since there are times you see it in the series. You do have that replacement hand in Wolf in the Fold but then you get a closeup sequence of both his actual hands working with a tool in That Which Survives. So I like to think it’s genuinely canon for him.

The next sequence is Jim’s composure doing a 180 with panicked eyes and a frown. He then goes “Uh-god I’m sorry I didn’t even consider-“ then gets cut off by Scotty elbowing him in the stomach. The engineer’s face also changes from a calm frown to a playful smirk. Replying back with “Och, just teasin’ ye. I’ve tied transporter wires more complex than this.”.

I like to imagine Scotty lost his finger in his early twenties, when he was a young student in the academy. Less cautious and knowledgeable than he is now. Some sort of mechanical incident. Since then he’s learned how to get by perfectly fine without that finger, to the point where he often forgets it’s gone. Helps that he still has his other hand to flip people off with. I don’t know much about phantom pains, but I wonder if he ever gets them. Maybe that’s more of an early stage thing, but hey I’m writing fiction so whatever lol.

Drawing of Jim in Japanese bondage called Kinbaku. He’s completely nude with red rope wrapped his chest, arms, pelvis, dick, and thighs. I saw some examples while researching this that had the model also have their lower legs and neck bound but that was too much for my claustrophobic self lol. Jim’s hair is slightly disheveled with half lidded eyes and a lopsided grin slightly drooling. He’s also blushing with a few drops of sweat on his body. Safe to say hes incredibly aroused with the puffs of steam by his head and fully hard leaking dick. Bonus note is that I wanted to make sure his titties looked fat as fuck. This whole drawing was pure self indulgence and I had fun with it.
