Well, that’s my 2027 season sorted (the Boise date is wrong, though, it’s actually on July 24th). Only 190 days until race day!
Screenshot of an "Upcoming Races" listing with four cards: Ironman 70.3 Oceanside on April 3, 2027, in Oceanside, California; Ironman 70.3 Northern California on May 23, 2027, in Redding, California; Ironman 70.3 Coeur d'Alene on June 27, 2027, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; and Ironman 70.3 Boise on July 1, 2027, in Boise, Idaho.

A few photos from Ironman 70.3 Washington Tri-Cities this weekend. Race report coming later this week, but pretty good race overall for me, although I was a couple of minutes slower than last year. Next up, Oceanside in April. That’s it for this season!

Forgot to post here, but the race went well, although I was a couple of minutes slower than last year. Also, the medal has a built-in corkscrew.

The bike is racked and ready for tomorrow. Now time to relax and check the rest of my gear fifty more times before hitting the sack.

Third year racing Ironman 70.3 Washington Tri-Cities, and the forecast is looking great for tomorrow: Low wind and no rain, although a touch warm, with a 30°C/86°F high. Hopefully better than last year, though—that wind was brutal.

Ironman 70.3 Northern California moves to May next year
I read a few glowing race reports from this race, all of which raved about the course, how well-organized the race was, and how welcoming Redding was, which made me regret not racing it. Next year it's moving from its mid-August date to May 23, which would make it not blazing-hot. I'm tempted to add it to my schedule nest year; Redding is a mere fourteen-hour drive from me.

Some of these Rouvy routes are stressing me the hell out. I don't know how the person who recorded this one didn't get hit by a car, honestly.

Tadej Pogačar has abandoned the Vuelta a España after a crash on Stage 8. This is the first Grand Tour he’s abandoned. I can’t quite believe my eyes. On such an innocuous, straight bit of road too. Reminiscent for me of when Mark Cavendish crashed out a few years back. Insane how things can change.

Ironman 70.3 Coeur d’Alene close to being renewed for another three years
According to the Coeur d’Alene Press, the Coeur d’Alene City Council, the World Triathlon Corporation, and the North Idaho Sports Commission are about to sign a three-year contract that keeps the Ironman 70.3 in Coeur d'Alene through 2029, with races set for June 27, 2027, June 25, 2028, and June 24, 2029. It also formalizes the move of the finish line from Sherman Avenue into Coeur d’Alene City Park, which happened this year because the race accidentally collided with the Car d’Alene car festival. I love this race, so I'm glad it'll be renewed for another three years, but I had my fingers crossed that the full-distance race would return---I have some unfinished business there.

You also can't start the route where you left off in a future workout, so if you primarily do structured workouts, there are many, many routes you will never complete, unless you do extremely long workouts. It's real dumb.

Guillermo Esteves @giventotri.com · 23/08/2026
I should write a review of Rouvy at some point, but the one thing driving me up a wall right now is that it doesn't switch to free-riding after a workout is over. Want to finish that route? Are you close to leveling up? Want to cool down a little longer? Tough shit, workout's over, you're done.
