🏔️ As part of the project, we are also monitoring glacier‑fed systems to capture the full spectrum of hydrological and biogeochemical conditions across the river continuum. Check additional details on the BREATHE Water4All project: lnkd.in/dPZM4TQh

A look at our latest BREATHE 🌬️ field campaign in Valais (CH)! 🏙️ This week, we sampled an urban river and an agricultural ditch to quantify reach‑scale metabolism, dissolved gas dynamics, nutrient concentrations, and biogeochemical indicators of water quality across contrasting catchments.

We present a framework to capture riverine DOC dynamics by linking water transit time with the degradation of soil-exported DOC. Predicted reactivity of exported DOC strongly correlates with quality indices independently obtained from data under varying hydrologic conditions.

The time that water spends to travel across the catchment isn’t just a driver of DOC concentration, but it also shapes its quality and reactivity in a low-order alpine stream. doi.org/10.1029/2024... @enricobertuzzo.bsky.social @riverepfl.bsky.social
