You’re right about that, it is inherent to the medium and hard work to get over the lifelessness of 3D - of digital puppets. However there are a constant influx of new projects and directors, many good ones. I guess 2D projects are just on average better than 3D ones, but there’s way less of them.

2D can't be as good as 3D because 2D is harder to do imo. But it does have an inherent charm, which 3D struggles with inherently. It's not that the first Space Jam is better, it isn't. It's more that the movie isn't terrible and the animation is full of charming faults, which are ugly in 3D.

VFX animation is down the drain because everything is slow and floaty. Disney and Pixar animation is both floaty and rubbery - the worst there is regarding the feature film industry. Illumination's animation quality is stellar, but their movies are terrible. And then there's stuff like Arcane lol

Because you're confusing artistic direction with animation quality. I'm voluntarily abrasive, because I'm a 3D animator, and I know 2D can't hold a candle to it regarding quiality potential. However, most 3D-animation projects are directed with terribly poor taste.

And what if he just did wake up? Who would that bother, really? My favourite thing was one of Rocambole's adventures, back when there were serial novels in newspapers. The man ended up one time at the bottom of the ocean, trapped in a box. Next issue, he walked scot free in NYC, no explanation given

First try at digital painting in a loooooooooonng while. Like, actual painting, not the bullshit 3d-inspired rendering technique I used previously. It's a much longer process, but a much more enjoyable also, so I might keep doing that in later pics! Hope y'all like it!
