MS Copilot did a bunch of my work for me today (3 presentations) and I finally can breathe for the first time this budget season.

Several kids from KWP daycare there so he'd have familiar faces

If you're looking in neighborhood, Thorp was really solid the two years we were there. The Chicago parents I keep in touch with from there still seem pretty happy with it.

Tbf, Allegiant airlines is not on my radar. I also went on base only during hardware install and setup of the classified systems - the rest of the time I was at a Northrop Grumman office in Fairview Heights or O’Fallon

I lived in St. Louis and worked at Scott AFB and somehow never knew this airport existed

I met him and have a signed ball from him. Random tech event at Wrigley and he was the special guest 🤷🏻‍♀️

OMG, Mark Mortimer died too? He was not my favorite Nick Hudson on Another World, but he was serviceable. RIP.

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 06/10/2026

Robert Kelker-Kelly has died apparently. He was a terrible person by many accounts (Jensen Buchanan, Sandra Robinson, Lisa Rinna, Kristian Alfonso) Liked him on AW the first time, despised him the second time. Loved him as Bo on Days. He groomed (allegedly) Miriam Parrish, who divorced him.

Welp, boss told me he officially plans to pitch me for a VP promotion and wants ELT support to get me there soon-ish. Yay. more work and more stress

Sign of my exhaustion: kissed my 9 year old goodnight and told her lights off by 10 because it’s a weekend. Trusting her to do it. And now, hopefully, to sleep

010

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 03/10/2026

so tired that I typo'd "sandwich" omg

010

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 03/10/2026

Yep, our local Culvers in Chicago did the same thing. This one in Colorado gave me the assembled sandwhich Curdside, but it wasn't soggy at all somehow. Just perfection.

Glad we made it back there last year with our daughter.

010

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 03/10/2026

It was so good! I hadn't had one in years and it totally hit

010

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 03/10/2026

my god Culvers did a perfect pot roast sandwich tonight, exactly what i needed after this week from hell

Just listened to the first minute and yep, it's very obvious

010

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 02/10/2026

Have not seen a single pitch of postseason baseball!!!!

000

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 02/10/2026

I am bone tired from a week of doing my job, covering my boss, covering my open headcount, covering for my admin AND running budget 2027 meetings. Oh and working on a surprise cloud update for the CEO that dropped in the middle of this and required me to reprocess 6 months of actuals. TIRED.

Husband's flight to Chicago is 3 hours and 37 minutes delayed and counting

000

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 02/10/2026

I have slowly started building a new wardrobe by using Quince for nice business casual basics. For like $400, I have enough clothes for about 20 different outfit combinations. It will no longer look like I own 3 sweaters and one pair of pants when I go to the office in Chicago.

000

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 01/10/2026

Saw my primary care today and she made me walk back my stretch weight loss goal from 20 to 15lbs. I understand why and hope I can get there by the new year. Just need work to stop kicking my ass

010

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 01/10/2026

if the white sox make the world series, i will be in chicago for games 3,4,5. I would absolutely go if I can snag a reasonably priced ticket

Product recommendation: the londontown "kur" nail recovery set. I had terrible nails but now they are strong and hard. There may be a manicure in my future for the first time in over a decade.

Seasons 1-4 and the recent reboot Resurrection were excellent. Excited for Resurrection season 2 next month

000

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 01/10/2026

The last time the White Sox swept the Astros in the playoffs, I was in Houston on a consulting gig and could not get a single person to go with me to the games. They were practically giving tickets away. Should have just gone myself.

This is the best way to Peloton

$275 in 23andMe class action money. Sweet.

I think Mickey Mantle's death was the first time I saw my dad cry

I am one day into budget season and ready to drop

000

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 28/09/2026

Daughter: You need to wear baggier clothes Me: I did not lose nearly 50lbs to wear baggy clothes, child.

She probably is, and so is Miranda Lambert who I like. I've become exhausted by trying to filter out artists who have political leanings I hate.

010

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 27/09/2026

Unpopular opinion: Choosing Texas is fine. It's a catchy song. I don't know why it's so popular when there are better songs and country artists out there, but it is, and the commentary cycle about this is tedious. Pop country was my weird covid-fixation and it's continued.

My daughter apparently emailed her 1st grade teacher from Chicago yesterday and got a nice reply this morning. It's sweet to know she's still remembered (especially for the awesome Wednesday Addams costume we did that year!)

000

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 27/09/2026

Probably the only way I could get my husband to a MLB game

000

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 27/09/2026

Ooh, obsessed with that color!

010

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 27/09/2026

I will be rooting for the Brewers and the White Sox in the post season, both teams from cities I lived in and both ones that I find generally inoffensive.

010

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 26/09/2026

And four of them wore the blue and orange

010

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 26/09/2026

Got 2 new pairs of glasses for $477, and I'm thrilled because I got the same frames I have now, but in a different colorway for one of the pairs. Love my current frames but have gotten sick of the color

020

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 26/09/2026

I have finally conceded my eyes are shot and I need a stronger prescription. 9am eye appointment tomorrow. Just hope I can find decent frames

000

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 25/09/2026

If you have Ulta near you, it's on sale right now

110

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 25/09/2026

I switched to Saltair when I noticed the same thing

110

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 25/09/2026

I have one month until my next Chicago business trip, then one in each of December, January and February. Then April. “Remote” work. HA!

000

Shannon @girlwiththemostcake.com · 25/09/2026

Who has already submitted her expense report and her manager has already approved? This gal. I'm still at ORD 🤣

010

In shock - the United lounge has something besides chicken Marsala for once. Beef barbacoa today and it’s actually good!
