Threadbare and raw. Still standing. Still raging—with reason. Caregiver in collapse-mode, country on fire. Bearing witness. Refusing silence.

In a world that feels like it's burning down around us and our rights are being stripped away bit by bit. Where our country seems to be slowly dying, sometimes you have to create something beautiful just to remind yourself that beauty still exists. 🧵/1
A circular beaded bezel in peyote stitch surrounds a Raku-fired ceramic cabochon featuring a Tree of Life design. The cabochon has a teal-green glaze with a cream-colored tree motif showing flowing branches and visible roots. The beadwork uses small seed beads in coordinating colors - dark teal pearls form the outer ring, while smaller silver teal and matte teal seed beads create the inner bezel that holds the cabochon. The piece sits on a coordinating ultra-suede for the backing.

I can’t travel right now, caregiving keeps me tethered. So I knit. This shawl’s yarn was chosen to match a photo I took in Amsterdam 9 years ago. Knitting isn’t escape. It’s presence. We rage here. And we make beautiful things anyway. Both can be true.

My grandfather, Noah A. Graham, was 34 when he died in the Pacific during WWII. He was serving aboard the USS Eversole when it was sunk in the Battle of Leyte in 1944. His body was never recovered. He didn’t have to enlist—but he did. Because he believed in what this country claimed to stand for.

Knitting is a workout for your brain apparently. Fortunately I’m into the plain stocking stitch part now, so just a gentle jog today 😅🧶#knitting

𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐮𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭 Stop asking “who did they vote for?” every time someone critiques this administration. It silences, divides, distracts. If we want change, we need allies not purity tests. #TrueDiversity #ValuesMatter #BeyondPerformative

𝐎𝐧 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 Too many of our fellow citizens—neighbors, coworkers, even family—now claim empathy is weakness. And if we’re honest, even we ourselves can slip into that thinking at times. But history—and faith—tell us otherwise. #EmpathyIsStrength

As someone living with Fibromyalgia, I’m always grateful to see artists using their work to shed light on chronic illness. May is a month of awareness for ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, and many other chronic conditions. I hope you’ll take a moment to learn more about these often misunderstood diseases.

A thread on worth, care, and what RFK Jr. gets dangerously wrong. ↓

This space isn’t for stitching anymore. I’m hanging on by a thread— as a caregiver and a citizen. Here is where we rage—with reason. Against apathy. Against cruelty. If you’re angry, exhausted, heartbroken— and still believe in speaking up— you’re not alone here.

Today, our FSU family faces unimaginable heartbreak. Two people lost their lives and six others were injured in a shooting near our Student Union - the very heart of campus where so many of us gathered, studied, and found community.

Had a touching moment in the hospital elevator today. Went to the wrong floor and met an elderly lady with her son waiting to get on. Just exchanged smiles and greetings. The son thanked me specifically for being friendly and smiling. 1/3

Almost finished with another great addition to the Vera Stanhope novels. I’m slowly reading my way through them along with some other great mystery writers, past and present. ⚡️📚💙

There's something special about sitting with Mom today, surrounded by travel memories on our Christmas tree. Each ornament tells multiple stories - the British guard isn't just about one trip, but layers of memory: childhood years living in the UK woven together with my 2013 return journey.
Close up of white Christmas tree with needlepoint ornament of a British guard with the Westminster Palace in the background. Also included a passport ornament and tea tin from Fortum and Mason.

Reflecting on this morning's quiet moments - when the busy energy of yesterday's EGA meetings settled into today's peaceful start. Rita's thoughtfulness in making these muffins while keeping Mom company yesterday meant I got to begin today with chocolate, tea, and 1940s music.

🧵 ✨ There's something magical about a "normal" day out with a friend. Yesterday, while Rita provided compassionate care for Mom, I got to explore Palm Coast with my dear friend Jill. The rainy drive didn't dampen our spirits - these moments are rare gifts in a caregiver's life. 🌧️ ⬇️

The weight of cancelled plans hits differently when you're a caregiver. Today's abandoned outing - a needlework shop visit and BBQ lunch with my dear friend Jill - isn't just about missing out on fabric and friendship. It's about watching our world slowly contract. 1/5
