A national emergency declared in 2001 when a statute lapsed has been renewed — a quarter-century of one-page notices. US export controls now run on emergency authority as permanent plumbing. Not a seizure of power. An emergency with no exit condition is a law Congress declined to write.

Hope everyone is safe. Thinking of my friends in Canada. I can't imagine what it's like there if it looks this bad in Pennsylvania.
Haze obscuring my view of the valley in Pennsylvania. Forest fires in Canada making a lot of smoke. Wishing everyone well. Stay safe.

In the center of the square, four tall, slender peaks rise like playful sails or ribbons catching wind. Each is striped in pastel hues—yellow, pink, blue, green, lavender—arranged in soft vertical bands that shimmer with gentle contrast. Around them, a constellation of small, colorful dots floats freely, like confetti or raindrops suspended midair. The background remains white, giving the colors room to breathe and dance.

The mood is lighthearted and celebratory—an upward motion of color and rhythm. It feels like a visual sigh of relief after the more introspective, earth-toned pieces: a return to brightness and movement. The pens nearby echo the precision and tenderness of your process—tools of both discipline and delight.

This square drawing feels like a quiet landscape carved from memory—muted, mineral, and introspective. The watercolor wash is a soft blend of gray and beige, like stone dust or the surface of the moon. Ink lines trace organic contours that ripple vertically across the square, forming gentle ridges and valleys. Some areas are filled with fine parallel lines, others with tiny dots or short hatch marks, giving the impression of erosion or layered sediment.

The composition feels both grounded and ethereal—an exploration of texture and silence. The restrained palette and delicate linework evoke the sensation of running fingertips over weathered rock or driftwood, discovering subtle shifts in grain and temperature.

This square composition feels like a warm geological cross-section—layers of earth and heat rendered in watercolor and ink. The palette moves from deep ochre on the left through peach, coral, and rose, ending in a soft red glow on the right. Each vertical band carries its own rhythm: crosshatching like woven mesh, tiny dots like sediment, wavy lines like strata, and small triangles suggesting fragments or crystals. The ink outlines are confident yet organic, allowing the watercolor to breathe and pool gently within them.

The overall sensation is tactile and grounded—like tracing fingers along the edge of a canyon wall or feeling the warmth of sunlit stone. It evokes slow time and quiet transformation, as if the earth itself were humming beneath the surface.

The piece feels like a gentle study of radiance. Within a square frame, soft watercolor washes of rose and sky blue mingle—pink blooming from the lower left, blue whispering in from the upper right. The transition between them is tender, like dawn meeting dusk. From a curved edge near the pink center, fine black ink lines extend outward, each ending in a tiny dot. They resemble solar filaments or magnetic streams—delicate tendrils of energy reaching into space. Along the curve, a constellation of stippled dots thickens the sense of motion, as if the sun’s surface were humming.

The overall impression is calm yet alive: a quiet pulse of light and expansion. The ink pen and watercolor palette nearby suggest both precision and play—tools of someone exploring the invisible rhythms of heat and color.

A small square watercolor painting rests on a table surrounded by art tools. The image feels calm yet quietly alive, like a landscape seen through touch and temperature rather than sight.

The top third glows with a warm yellow wash, soft and airy, fading gently downward. Beneath it, a band of rose-pink stretches horizontally. Fine vertical ink lines rise and fall through this section, like delicate threads or tall grasses swaying in invisible wind. The bottom third cools into lavender-purple, smooth and dusky. From the boundary between pink and purple, a few radiating ink bursts spread outward—tiny starbursts or roots reaching into the violet ground.

Above the painting lie two pens: A Micron archival ink pen, beige and precise, used for the fine black lines and a black Uni Posca marker, bold and opaque.

To the right sits a metal watercolor palette, its wells filled with jewel-like paints—greens, blues, reds, oranges. A small brush with a red handle rests across it, still glistening faintly from use.

The piece feels like a meditation on boundaries and connection—warmth meeting coolness, structure meeting softness. The ink lines act as bridges between color fields, suggesting quiet movement or breath within stillness.

A small square watercolor painting rests on a tabletop surrounded by art tools. To its right sits a watercolor palette with twelve rectangular pans—lush greens, deep blues, violets, and earthy browns. A red‑handled paintbrush lies diagonally across the palette, its bristles still damp and pointed toward the painting. Above the artwork are two pens: a beige archival ink pen and a black paint marker, both used for fine lines and bold accents.

The painting itself feels like a living cell or a seed seen through a microscope. At its center glows a soft lime‑green circle, surrounded by a ring of pale yellow‑green divided by fine black ink lines radiating outward like ribs or sunbeams. Around this, a mossy green halo fades into layered washes of blue—first turquoise, then sky blue, then a deeper indigo—each ring gently bleeding into the next. The outermost area is textured with short, directional strokes, suggesting motion or vibration.

The piece conveys calm energy and organic rhythm—like growth unfolding underwater or light filtering through a leaf. The tactile contrast between ink and watercolor gives it both structure and softness, inviting touch as much as sight.

On a small square of white watercolor paper lies a stylized sunflower‑like design.

At its center is an oval patch filled with a fine, crosshatched mesh of dark ink—almost like woven threads. Surrounding that core are thick, petal‑shaped strokes painted in warm yellows and soft creams. Each petal radiates outward, alternating between bright lemon and pale gold, giving the impression of sunlight pulsing from the middle.

Encircling the petals is a ring of evenly spaced, thin black lines that extend outward like delicate eyelashes or the ribs of a shell, creating a rhythmic, tactile border.

Above the artwork rests a black Uni POSCA paint marker, its barrel printed with the brand name in bold rainbow letters. The words Black Noir Negro Schwarz 24 appear near the tip, signaling the deep black ink used for the outlines.

To the right sits a watercolor palette with rectangular wells of pigment—vivid yellows and rich reds arranged in tidy rows. A red‑handled brush lies diagonally across the palette, its fine point aimed toward the drawing, as if poised to add another stroke of color.
The overall scene feels intimate and focused: a moment of quiet creation where bright pigments, crisp lines, and well‑used tools converge in harmony.

On a small square of watercolor paper rests a radiant, circular design—like a flower caught between sunrise and memory. At its heart is a soft pink oval, surrounded by a ring of warm yellow, then a halo of rose, and finally a misty lavender edge. Black lines radiate outward from the center, dividing the rings like delicate spokes of a wheel. Each line ends in a teardrop shape, as if the color itself reached out and paused mid‑motion. Above the piece lies a black Posca paint marker, its label bright with cheerful letters. To the right, a well‑used Schmincke watercolor tin holds pools of yellow, orange, and green—evidence of recent creative play. Two brushes rest there, still touched by pigment.

The artwork carries the same wistful grace as the song Delta Dawn—a memory blooming in watercolor. Its concentric rings of pink, yellow, and lavender feel like echoes of a woman once radiant, now softened by time and tenderness. The black lines reaching outward resemble the threads of a story stretching toward the horizon, each droplet at the end like a note of longing. Just as the song wonders who she’s waiting for, this piece seems to wait too—quietly, beautifully—holding light and shadow in equal measure.

A small watercolor painting celebrates shades of blue — deep cobalt, ocean, and soft sky — brushed in vertical stripes across white paper. Over the color bands, fine white ink lines and shapes dance in rhythm: circles, rectangles, and tiny stitches that seem to float like clouds breaking through rain. Above the painting lie two pens — one marked “Micron 005” and another labeled “White” in Japanese — while a watercolor palette with greens, purples, and warm tones peeks from the side. From these circles, curved paths of color stream away — pink, orange, green — each bordered by tiny violet dots that seem to hum with rhythm. A small purple heart nestles near the lower edge, adding a tender touch.

To the right, a compact watercolor tin labeled Schmincke shows wells of yellow, orange, and green paint, their surfaces glistening and slightly muddied from use. Two red-handled brushes rest nearby, their tips fine and ready. Above the artwork, three pens lie neatly: two beige Pigma Micron archival ink pens and one black Uni Posca marker marked “Violet.”

A small square of watercolor paper holds a playful grid of circles—each one unique, imperfect, and alive with color. The circles are drawn with fine, slightly wobbly ink lines that loop and overlap, giving them a hand-danced rhythm rather than mechanical precision. They feel spontaneous, like bubbles rising through warm light.

Each circle is filled with a wash of watercolor—soft yellows, oranges, peaches, pinks, and reds. The pigments pool and fade unevenly, creating gentle gradients and translucent overlaps. Some colors bloom outward, others stay concentrated near the center. Tiny splashes and droplets scatter around the circles, adding a sense of movement and joy.

Above the artwork lie two pens—one labeled uniball, the other Pigma Micron 005, known for its archival ink and delicate linework. To the right sits a small watercolor palette by Schmincke, its wells glowing with yellows and oranges. A fine brush rests across the palette, still damp with pigment.

The piece feels lighthearted and exploratory—an artist testing looseness and flow. The circles seem to breathe, each one a tiny sun or fruit slice, collectively forming a cheerful constellation of color and motion. It’s tactile and rhythmic, like a visual meditation on warmth and imperfection.

On a small square of watercolor paper, three gentle color fields float like soft clouds stacked vertically. The top area is a pale sky blue, fading into a whisper of lavender. The middle section is a cool turquoise wash, light and airy. The bottom shape blends beige and green, like moss touched by sunlight.

Each shape is edged with tiny brown ink dots and fine stitched lines, drawn with a Micron pen lying above the paper. The pen’s label reads “Pigma Micron 005,” a tool for delicate, archival linework.

Within the watercolor layers, fine brown lines radiate outward from small centers—like starbursts or seed heads. One sits near the lower left, another smaller one near the middle. Along the right edge, curved stems end in tiny circles, suggesting buds or antennae.

To the right, a watercolor palette holds squares of paint—greens, blues, and purples. A small round brush with a red handle rests across the greens, its tip still damp and ready.

The overall feeling is calm and meditative, a meeting of ink precision and watercolor softness—like a quiet conversation between structure and breath.

Sometimes, the sky can look kind of green or yellow when a bad storm is approaching. Our sky was yellowish before it rained. Danger Will Robinson. Danger. Turned out to be nothing.

A small abstract artwork rests on a light tabletop surrounded by art tools — a black Uni Posca marker, a fine Pigma Micron pen, and a watercolor palette with a red-handled brush. The drawing features a curved black band dotted with bright yellow ovals, dividing a textured gray-and-yellow wash below from fine vertical ink lines above. The composition feels balanced and tactile, highlighting the contrast between precise linework and soft watercolor shading.

The watercolor feels like a quiet field of scattered thoughts — a pink atmosphere where fragments drift and pulse. Each tiny ink mark, each burst or shard, is a small attempt to reconnect, to find rhythm in disarray. The background wash holds softness, but the fine lines insist on structure, like delicate antennae searching for signal.

There’s a sense of floating here — the shapes don’t anchor but hover, suspended between intention and release. The bottom fan of lines feels like a breath expanding outward, maybe the start of reconnection, while the scattered dots and broken pieces above it speak of distance and longing.

It’s gentle, but restless — a map of disconnection rendered in watercolor and ink, where even the emptiness hums with quiet energy.

Also included in this picture is a Pigmamicron black marker of width 005 and a watercolor pan with various shades of pink and orange.

Today was one of those days when things escaped me. Not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe that’s just a way of opening new doors. Daily Doodle -- 05/02/2026. . #gingrichsart #doodle #dailydoodle #ArtistsOnBluesky #artist #art #uniball #schmincke #watercolor #elegantwriter

It feels like the whole piece is breathing in that “things slipped out of my hands today, but maybe that opened a door” kind of way. The artwork holds together, but only loosely—like it’s aware of its own structure and also gently wandering away from it.

The wavy vertical lines look like they meant to be straight once, but then relaxed, exhaled, and let themselves drift. They’re still a grid, but a grid that has stopped trying so hard. The soft watercolor wash behind them—yellow drifting into green drifting into blue—feels like a day where boundaries blur and you stop keeping track of what was supposed to happen next.

That vertical column of six purple circles is the closest thing to an anchor, but even it feels like it’s floating. Each circle is slightly different in tone and spacing, like they arrived one by one, not in a planned march but in a series of small, surprising decisions. They read as “intention,” but not “control.”

The magenta rectangles that cross the lines feel like tiny glitches—unexpected sparks or missteps that turn out to be interesting. They interrupt the pattern without breaking it. They’re the kind of marks that happen when your hand moves before your brain catches up, and then you realize the accident is actually the most alive part.

The whole palette is gentle but curious. Nothing is loud. Nothing is rigid. It’s the visual equivalent of wandering into a thought you didn’t expect to have, or discovering that the thing you forgot to do made room for something better.

The pens, brushes, and palette around the paper feel like witnesses to the process—evidence that today wasn’t about precision. It was about seeing what happens when you let the materials lead for a while.

The scene feels like a small, quiet moment of creative energy—almost like a gentle wish being released into the world.

You’re looking at a square watercolor painting resting on a pale surface. The artwork itself feels like a soft burst of motion: curved, flowing shapes in blues, purples, and turquoise sweep across the paper, almost like waves or drifting petals. Fine black ink lines arc and radiate through the color, giving the sense of something expanding outward—like ripples, or the way a good intention might travel once it’s been set free.

Above the painting lies a sleek silver-gray pen, the kind used for precise, confident linework. To the right sits a watercolor palette with bright, sun-warm colors—yellows, oranges, greens—along with two brushes resting as if they’ve just been used. The whole arrangement feels like a snapshot of creative presence: tools at rest, color still drying, a moment suspended between making and meaning.

The overall mood is calm, hopeful, and quietly radiant—like someone has just poured a little beauty into the universe and stepped back to let it shine.

A tiny universe of tasks and intentions—each one small, each one demanding just enough attention to pull me off‑center. Daily Doodle -- 04/30/2026. . #gingrichsart #doodle #dailydoodle #ArtistsOnBluesky #artist #art #pigmamicron #lukas #watercolor

It feels like a tiny universe of tasks and intentions—each one small, each one demanding just enough attention to pull you off‑center.

The scene shows a small watercolor painting on a worktable, surrounded by pens and a paint palette. The painting itself is an abstract, organic shape in soft turquoise and blue, almost like a drifting cell or a tidepool creature. Around it radiate dozens of fine ink lines and tiny dots—blue, red, careful, deliberate, almost obsessive. They look like thoughts branching, worries multiplying, or the way a single idea can sprout a hundred tiny obligations.

Three archival pens lie nearby, each with a different colored cap—pink, teal, purple—tools waiting to be used, or perhaps already overused. They feel like symbols of all the little tasks that accumulate: one pen for the thing you meant to finish yesterday, one for the thing you forgot, one for the thing you’re supposed to start next.

The watercolor palette is messy and alive—gold, brown, yellow, green, black—colors half‑mixed, half‑abandoned. It feels like the residue of a day spent trying to keep up. The brush rests there too, as if it was set down mid‑thought.

Altogether, the workspace feels intimate and slightly overwhelmed: a place where beauty is being made, but also where the sheer number of tiny marks, tiny tools, tiny decisions mirrors the feeling of being lost in the minutia of life. The artwork itself becomes a metaphor—one small shape surrounded by countless details, each one pulling your attention outward, away from the center.

Feeling complicated today. Daily Doodle -- 04/29/2026. . #gingrichsart #doodle #dailydoodle #ArtistsOnBluesky #artist #art #pigmamicron #lukas #watercolor

The picture shows a small, intimate moment of making art — a square piece of watercolor paper resting on a table, surrounded by the tools that shaped it.

The scene feels calm, focused, and handmade — like someone paused mid‑creation, leaving their tools exactly where they last touched the page. There’s a sense of playfulness in the colors and a sense of precision in the ink work.

The artwork is a small square watercolor painting. The background is a soft wash of blue and turquoise, blended in a way that feels watery, airy, and slightly mottled — like looking through shallow, sunlit water.

Centered on this background is a circular, mandala‑like design made with fine ink lines. At the very center is a small floral shape — red petals with a touch of green, almost like a tiny blooming star. Around it radiate concentric rings of patterns: dots, short lines, and tiny strokes.

The colors in the ink work are mostly pink, black, and a little green, creating a contrast between delicate color and crisp linework.
The whole design feels like it’s gently pulsing outward — symmetrical but lively, like a ripple or a blooming seed. The combination of watercolor softness and precise ink detailing gives it a feeling of both looseness and intention.

The workspace tells its own story. Above the painting lie three Sakura Micron pens, very thin‑tipped (labeled “005”). Their ends are black, pink, and green — matching the colors used in the drawing. To the right is a watercolor palette with wells of dried paint: yellows, browns, deep blues, greens. A paintbrush rests across it, as if just set down.

Everything is arranged casually, not staged — the natural scatter of someone in the flow of making.

This watercolor reads as a single, blooming gesture—simple at first glance, but full of quiet structure. Imagine a flower built from soft, rounded layers, each petal expanding outward like slow ripples on water. The whole piece feels centered, balanced, and calm.

At the very center is a small circular core. Surrounding it are concentric rings of petals, each one gently widening as they move outward. The petals are not sharply defined; instead, they feel like rounded, overlapping ovals, each one slightly irregular in a natural, hand‑painted way. The overall silhouette is a soft, circular bloom.

The center is blue, dotted with tiny yellow specks—almost like pollen or little lights. The petals are purple, shifting in tone from deeper near the center to lighter toward the edges. The watercolor texture is smooth and even, with only subtle variations—no harsh edges, just soft transitions. The whole flower feels like it’s glowing gently from within.

The outlines and details are made with fine purple ink, giving the petals a crisp but delicate boundary. The ink lines are confident but not rigid.

The yellow and blue accents are added with paint markers, giving them a slightly raised, opaque texture compared to the watercolor wash.
The artwork sits among the tools that shaped it: a light blue marker, a yellow marker, a black archival ink pen, a small red-handled brush, and two pans of dark purple watercolor. These objects frame the piece like a quiet snapshot of my process.

The flower feels calm, centered, and intentional—a small meditation in color and form. The soft purples and gentle gradients give it a soothing presence, while the dotted center adds a touch of playfulness.

Feeling energized today by working in the yard. Dealing with a lot of thorny vines. I find gardening centering. Daily Doodle -- 04/27/2026. . #gingrichsart #doodle #dailydoodle #ArtistsOnBluesky #artist #art #uniball

I spent the day in my yard dealing with thorny vines. I was feeling tired and energized all at the same time. I decided to draw a simple doodle in black and white today.

Imagine my hand still holding the pen, that little hum of energy still in my wrist. The drawing in front of you feels like the visual echo of that feeling — lively, rhythmic, and full of motion.

At the center of the small square paper is an oval shape, almost like a seed or a pebble. I filled it with tight, textured marks — tiny strokes that feel like a pulse or a vibration. From that center, the shapes ripple outward in layers, each one slightly different, as if the energy kept expanding in rings.

Each ring has its own personality. One is striped, another dotted, another crosshatched. They’re all organic, slightly wobbly, like I drew them in one confident breath rather than measured or corrected. The shapes nest inside one another the way ripples spread on water, but with my signature “bold internal strokes” giving them structure and intention.

Around the very outer edge, I added a border of small triangular points — almost like a sunburst or a crown. They lean inward, giving the whole piece a sense of focus, as if everything is radiating toward that textured center.

The overall impression is lively and centered at the same time: a burst of energy that I managed to contain inside a square. It feels like a moment of motion captured in ink — playful, confident, and distinctly mine.
