Did you think spring was cool? Think again… Several sites like Houston & Raleigh had their warmest spring on record (March, April, May), several more had their top 5 warmest. None had coolest or top 5 coolest. These are based on sites with at least 70 years of data (most have more than a century).

SIGNIFICANT FLASH FLOOD RISK setting up for southern plains and southern gulf coast of Texas (Corpus Christi): the last 30 days alone, less than 5% of normal rainfall has fallen across much of southern Texas. By Thursday night 10-15” of rain could fall for some.

One of the last times a rare high risk(only 4% of flash flood days) was issued was for Appalachia in #Helene ;life threatening is appropriate. High risk days account for 1/3 of all flash flood fatalities & 4/5 flash flood damages. These words are used to describe the hazards. That’s it.

Updated drought monitor has > 50% of nation in drought; severe drought to worst in more than two decades for many in the northeast. Trevor at a PA tree farm seeing the baby trees dried up and dead from heat/drought. Plenty of mature trees but perhaps some impact in 7-8 years from this drought.

What will soon be #Sara will hang near the coast of Honduras this weekend- then head toward the Yucatan peninsula early next week. Most models pick it up with the trough and send it toward the gulf coast by next Wednesday. Will keep you updated.
