and i absolutely don't mean that in a denigrating way or to value one perspective over the other—just to observe that these patterns of access and awareness change how we choose to deal with ourselves and how we think about ourselves collectively

that experience is inevitably damaging to the conscience, but it does provide a certain perspective that has had some value for us historically. there's a big difference between trying to failing to embody an ideal and sort of just remaining an NPC wojack until you could get an hrt appointment—

it's beautiful that people can transition younger thanks to having better information and access (however precarious both are at the moment) but that also means we have a bit less of the kind of trans woman who had no choice but to really give masculinity the old college try—

it was such a relief after getting in so much trouble dropping anvils on people that i would just become a woman instead <3

if you like cheeseball occult vibes, salem is pretty amusing and just a half hour north on the commuter rail. also i used to work at the isabella stewart gardner museum and i genuinely recommend it for the perfectly preserved gilded pre-raphaelite energy

i haven't gotten to the jouissance book yet! but i do see that word getting misused increasingly... interesting. i've read the new black, strictly bipolar, what is madness, and his illustrated guide to lacan. i find him the most accessible lacanian writer, he clarified a lot of stuff for me

when you see a little girl out in public with the most insane sparkly dress on and you just know she's throwing a fit if her parents don't let her wear it every day

at the talkback they said that they were somehow able to completely cast this character aside after the movie was complete, and hadn't thought about it much after, which was really cool to me

traditionally the people in heaven share the vision of god, which is beyond linear time, so it's impossible to get bored. which, to be fair, is even more bizarre and unappealing.

WORDS PLUS TIME is back with a discussion of "Junior Ghosts—Premorphic Drift" (the latest section of Louise Weard's Castration Movie) and the uncomfortable and inevitable awkwardness and ethical problems of transition.

Widows All the Way Down

After an messily ambitious trip to New York City, Castration Movie returns to Vancouver with a tight and excruciating depiction of a relationship broken by transition.

the most interesting moment in this solo performance was when she announced the next song by saying "this song is about when i was sexually assaulted by a he/they" which got a tepid reaction, and she said "you can laugh! it was FUNNY." but the song wasn't funny

it's important to remember what a disaster reaganism was and what a massive cultural anti-renaissance occurred in the 80s. this is MAGA 2

you know, i realized pretty quickly when i was younger that i'd have to at least pretend to be liberal or nobody would like me, so i feel this. that social pressure unfucked me and idk what hope there is for them if they've found workaround
