I only got into Zelda with BotW, so that style (and my predisposition to like animation-y things) will always be my fave… but I don’t hate the look of the OfT remake! It’s given European folklore vibes. Like, look at these critters from Efteling…

You can really see some Silly Symphonies ideas at play here. Some of these expressions are not a million miles from stuff we did on Cuphead. It’s a shame it dosn’t appear to have translated into the final design.

A range of different potential Thomas faces, very clearly inspired by early 1900s cartoons, like Silly Symphonies or homages like Cuphead

Tiny detail, but if they had just put a hard line for his top eyelashes, it probably would have helped a great deal - seems to have been considered before final render.

Artistic paining of the nearly final Thomas redesign, smaller eye shine and indication of eyelashes make him look infinitely less uncanny

I am amused that someone in the concept art stage knew that the execs wouldn’t be brave enough to push the design, so just had fun with making a new range of meme faces.

A crop in from the design board of the ‘new Thomas’ showing very expressive but different potential looks for Thomas’ face.
Seemingly more chiselled and angular

Even in motion there is something unfortunately uncanny about this new face … bit of a milquetoast “refresh” imo.

The “new” Thomas the Tbak engine design, which is identical to how it was before 2020,apart from his new, rounder face with blue coloured irises.

Pulling my hair out trying to make this work. Anyone know how to rig a sliding pivot point in Blender? I basically want to have control over the centre of gravity to make it easier to animate dynamic motion.

Wow! Something about uploading it to bluesky made all the sounds /really/ loud. I know the Victory’s are a bit crunchy but not that bad. Anyway… goods collected and off on their way.

The fruits of my free time this weekend. So many nodes.

A screenshot of a possibly slightly over engineered material node from Blender. The nodes and text are too small to be legible.

For £20, in its original box… It had to be done.

#Severance #Spoilers It could very easily just be a continuity error… but this show is full of so many twists and turns… allow me to apply my clown make up… 🤡

It’s not glamorous, it’s not clean, but today I did my first bit of soldering, and it runs a treat. Chuffed!

Happy #doctorwhoday Tho my love ebbs and wains from time to time, it’s an important show to me inspirationally and creatively. To say nothing of the lifelong friendships and connections it’s helped foster beyond the little blue box.

In the process of moving and hit with the surreal moment of packing my strange alien boys. (These purchases were the height of my lockdown insanity)

Six 12 inch character option Daleks, one of every paradigm Dalek colour (white, blue, yellow, orange and two reds) on my messy living room floor, surrounded by boxes and books as I pack them for moving.

Each Dalek has had its ears, eyestalk, gun and plunger arm removed, resulting in a collection of six large colourful plastic salt shakers.

Thanks @richardbbrookes.bsky.social for the new tongs. Needed some comically oversized ones for while now.

A massively over sized 11th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver. It’s about 2 and a half adult human heads long.

The same item but with the top removed to reveal they are massive tongs - presumably for BBQs… or to be used by giants.

The collection is getting so big, the Simpson’s box sets have been dislodged. Crazy to think there’s only 1 set left to complete the 80s leg of the range. #doctorwho

For diehard Whovians.
A view of my media stand drawers, holding all currently released limited edition Doctor Who The Collection Blu-Ray box sets. Seasons 2, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25 & 26.
The boxes and range is so big now, that it’s filled out 2 drawers and pushing other media out of the way.

I sometimes dig up old sketch’s of unfinished ideas and am half bemused, half grateful.

A loose redline sketch of the TARDIS trio for my Doctor Who Animated project bickering in the Blender TARDIS set.
The Doctor and Z’rik (a lizard-ish alien) are arguing openly at the console, while Sam (modern day human) is sitting board and exhausted, clearly experiencing this often.
