Two years ago, my student Arianny and her sister Chadal and her brother Carlos were murdered. I still think about her. I still grieve their loss. Arianny would be finishing her first year of high school this year.

Update on this situation: The books have been reinstated for the Reading Bowl. That decision was made a couple of months ago, but I haven't been super active on social media for a few months. I'm glad this decision was reversed.

Our libraries and library professionals are keystones of our communities fostering minds and offering services to individuals regardless of background. We must lift them up, especially this National Library Week, and demand that Trump and DOGE do not gut support for these vital institutions.

Working on a keynote presentation and while I hope there are more takeaways than this, if this is the one takeaway for attendees, then it'll have been a success.
Screen shot of a slide from a presentation deck. It has a yellow background. There are purple stars in the top left and bottom right corners. The black font is in the style of comics. Large, centered text reads LIBRARIES ARE POLITICAL. Beneath that, aligned left, are the words What Libraries Aren't Is Partisan.
