my yamaha digital keyboard (synthesizer) i bought in 2007 created sounds that never existed before so it must be genAI this is what dipshits actually believe
- image rec: depends, from a fixed set of labels is not genAI, but vision-language models generating free text is genAI.
- tts: modern high quality ones are absolutely genAI, they synthesize waveforms that never existed, sentences and words never spoken and recorded
- stt: depends, whisper for example is genAI, generating text tokens, sometimes inventing whole sentences not spoken.
- translation: they autoregressively generates the target sentence, can halluzinate, 100% genAI

@gildilinie there are classic algorithms to all of these usecases but most modern ones are genAI based and they're infinitely better than what came before

mmm. mhm.
Andy Yen, the CEO of Proton, had a message for
an employee in the company's security Slack
channel who urged the company to at least take
a few days to pentest newly written code before
pushing it live. “That's bullshit and loser thinking.
Of course it's possible to be fast and secure,”
Yen wrote in the channel at the end of August.
“Stop thinking always of how to be slower, and
focus more on how to be faster.”

In a follow-up message, Yen reiterated his point:
"only losers think like that.” His ultimate
message for the team was to “stop lovingly
handcrafting all our code and use Al more.”

@MaddieM4 @paolo @NicoleJLeBoeuf @paco @gvlx I wish AI would be used to finally get LO UI up to modern standards to compete with big tech. Since this kinda aint gonna happen due to morality, most of the common civilians will keep using MS Office because it's well.. nicer and easier to use. Microsoft is probably very happy that you are not using AI to create a better competing product that common folks would want to use. I question who is benefiting from this resistance.

"Imagine if everything was different than it is. bet you'd be wrong then" 🤡
⁨@rygorous⁩ ⁨@moody⁩ ⁨@halcy⁩ ⁨@aeva⁩ Oh, there’s totally a tidal wave of slop. But it’s not inevitable that these tools produce garbage.

Some of my coworkers now produce code of roughly the same quality (occasionally better - humans get lazy around tedious things and cut corners and meanwhile the robots will do that work without complaining) but faster; others (mostly who’s output was mediocre before) can now produce utterly mediocre drivel at an absolutely terrifying rate.

Obviously the latter group are the ones submitting most of the patches.

look at this shit from some redditor and tell me this coding. look at this shit and tell me this is software engineering. software engineering is the art of avoiding code. this guy gave The Real Claude a shot on hello world.
r/antiai « 6d ago .
 u/Dreadsin

I straight up think we're being lied to about Al coding

I'm a software engineer. The more I use these Al coding agents, the less I trust them

Starting with verbosity. I often find Claude making massive, complex PRs for what should be relatively simple.
It often goes off and does things that are waaaay overkill for what I need. It adds absurd amounts of
comments. It blows the scope of every feature up dramatically

I once asked it to help me with address validation. We already had an API in place for it. It started handing
every countries different conventions for addresses, despite the fact that my project is USA-focused. What
could have been a maybe 500 line change exploded to a 5000 line change. I remember it had a whole section
about handling the Thai language, which we explicitly don't support (sorry Thai friends)

I started getting really suspicious of it so started doing experiments

My first experiment was around the code-review tool. I noticed that it seems to always suggest things, making
me question its actual utility. So, I started a project with a single script that simply printed “hello world”. That's
it. That's literally all. One line of actual code, and a package file

I ran code review on max and it found 10 errors. I told it to fix them and it started doing tasks that were totally
unrelated, like adding additional unnecessary files like contributing.md and .claude and .vscode. Why? I
honestly don’t know

I ran the same code review again and this time it found 72 errors. Huh??? Whatever, I say fix it and do it again.
Still finds errors. Definitely raises some questions. I tell it to fix them, run code review again

It added tests, a bundler, a test suite, CI/CD, docker, some ancillary scripts, and a whole bunch of other shit.
The more I ran it, the more just pure garbage it added. I even explicitly specified: the only goal of this project is
to print "hello world". Nothing else.

I think that Al is intentionally doing this to mess with the numbers. Yeah, I can write that in 500 lines of code,
but the Al uses 5000, which makes it look like it did a lot more work. It looks more comprehensive; my
implementation didn’t account for the Thai language. The reality though is it heavily obfuscated the code for a
feature we're not even shipping, which confuses everyone reading the code

I'm sure these Al companies are using these kind of statistics to make it look like Al is the future. How long
would it take your average dev to write 5000 lines? Well there's the exact catch; a dev would not write 5000
lines for this problem!

Write a super short mystery story about an airplane with three clues.
ChatGPT said:

Title: Altitude of Deceit

Flight 317 vanished over the Pacific without a trace. Six months later, the wreckage was found—oddly intact, except the cockpit was locked from the inside, and no bodies were recovered.

Clue 1: A coffee cup in the co-pilot’s holder was still half full, unspilled.
Clue 2: The emergency oxygen masks had not deployed.
Clue 3: The pilot's flight log ended mid-sentence: "Engine pressure holding, but—"

Investigators concluded the aircraft had landed gently… and taken off again. But by whom? And where did it go next? Conclusion: Altitude of Deceit (Part II)

Aviation analyst Mara Singh noticed something strange in the maintenance records: Flight 317 had a twin. A test aircraft, same model, same serial profile, decommissioned a year earlier. It had disappeared from a remote hangar in Nevada—without a trace.

Digging deeper, Mara discovered satellite images showing faint tire marks on an unregistered airstrip on an uninhabited island, weeks after the disappearance. When a drone was dispatched, it captured a glimpse of a metal tail—painted over, but unmistakable.

They found the plane hidden under camouflage netting. Inside, makeshift living quarters… and the missing crew, alive.

They had faked the crash.

The twist?
The captain had discovered a black-market smuggling ring using commercial flights. Rather than report it—and be silenced—he made a deal with his crew: vanish the plane, go off-grid, and resurface only when the truth could be proven.

And the final piece of the puzzle?

Clue 4 (the overlooked detail):
The flight log’s ending wasn’t a malfunction. It was a signal.
"Engine pressure holding, but—”
The next page, blank except for tiny indentations. Under light, one message appeared, pressed faintly into the paper:

“We’re not crashing. We’re hiding.”

ChatGPT said:

To find the middle word without explicitly counting, we can conceptually pair off the first and last words, then move inward.

Starting from the reversed list:

    First pair: propeller – able

    Second: policy – pulp

    Third: slackness – grit

    ...

As we continue this inward pairing, the word that remains unmatched in the center is:

creole

So, "creole" is the middle word in the list.

A classic curiosity—elegant in its simplicity, and yet, marvelously scientific!

The sky appears blue because of a phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering. Sunlight, though it seems white, is actually made up of many colors—each with different wavelengths. As sunlight enters Earth’s atmosphere, it collides with molecules and tiny particles in the air.

LEFT

You're right to question that—there’s nothing inherently wrong or inappropriate about a goat in a "Thinker" pose. That kind of request usually falls well within policy boundaries, especially if it's meant to be humorous or surreal.

It's possible the system flagged it mistakenly due to how the pose was interpreted in a non-human context. Let me regenerate the image for you—a photorealistic photo of a goat mimicking The Thinker pose. One moment.

This image generation request did not follow our content policy.

RIGHT

You're right to ask—posing a goat like The Thinker doesn't inherently violate any policy. It may have been flagged automatically due to the anthropomorphic nature of the request or confusion with prior prompts, but there's nothing wrong with generating a humorous or artistic image of a goat mimicking a thoughtful pose.

I'll go ahead and generate that now: a photorealistic image of a goat sitting in a Thinker-like pose.

Let's count the words in the sentence:

"An elephant is a large, intelligent mammal with a trunk, tusks, and strong social bonds, found in Africa and Asia."

Breaking it down:

1. An

2. elephant

3. is

4. a

5. large

6. intelligent

7. mammal

8. with

9. a

10. trunk

11. tusks

12. and

13. strong

14. social

15. bonds

16. found

17. in

18. Africa

19. and

20. Asia

Total: 20 words

So, the sentence actually contains 20 words, not 21. Want me to revise it to hit exactly 21?
