Update: Well I guess they kinda owned me. I just wish Jerome McHale had used his powers for good of this caliber years ago

Addendum: The Peeps crashout about Shifter in the wake of the Genesys points update was GLORIOUS.

Quit! Your life will be better for it. If it took them that long to finally dunk Shifter, they will never do the big banlist that you keep hoping and praying they will make to fix the game. The ship sailed long ago.

I don't really post about Yugioh because I've been out for over 2 years and I'm not informed, but I saw that Dimension Shifter is finally banned. Konami's refusal to make necessary and timely changes is one of the many reasons I quit, and it is absolutely baffling that it took so long to do this.

Happy Fall time >:3 🎃🎃 (even though its like 90 degrees this week). This is a spoopy art I did of "Kitemite - Champion of Hestia" from Elestrals. #gbc #tcg #pixelart #elestrals

Kitemite floats with a few others. Jack-o-lanterns glow on the hills. A peculiar structure shines its lights out the window and door.

The Odyssey was pretty good. I think what keeps it away from being great for me is that a lot of the main characters felt like "actor is the character" and that's unfortunate. Maybe it's a me problem, but I think the cast needed to be less famous.

Elestrals worlds was absolutely amazing. The games were CRAZY swingy, the stories were unbelievable, the energy was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It’ll definitely stick with ne for the rest of my life. Couldn’t be happier to see what the future holds.

Something I hear a lot from judges and players is "I was *this close* to issuing a slow play warning" or "I was just about to call them out for taking too long". I think having that thought (within reason) should be the point you intervene or speak up, not after that thought lingers for a while.

010

Giant Skyhawk @giantskyhawk.bsky.social · 15/02/2026

Slow play enforcement in general also needs to be better (in Elestrals, Yugioh, every game). I think judges and players alike still feel like the bad guy when they tell someone to make decisions faster and the culture around that needs to change.

110

Giant Skyhawk @giantskyhawk.bsky.social · 15/02/2026

Having been responsible for the current time rules in Elestrals, it's mostly true that there's no such thing as good time rules. I do think there needs to be *some* element of player agency after time is called in changing the outcome that's better than comparing LP.

110

Giant Skyhawk @giantskyhawk.bsky.social · 15/02/2026

I totally get the challenge for Yugioh of long turns making extra definied overtime really weird. I'd think something like: - 45 min rounds - Time is called, finish current turn and next turn - Hard cap of 15 minutes - Overall stricter enforcement of slow play to make it work

110

Giant Skyhawk @giantskyhawk.bsky.social · 15/02/2026

Doing a double loss for matches that go to time is good policy, but immediately ending a match with no additional player agency after the moment time gets called is unbelievably cringe. Seems miserable for players and for viewers.

Day 10! 10-10-10-10-10. Really wanted 50 today and we got there, but I might pay for it tomorrow! Running total: 362 Card today is Divine Healing! I think I've finally cooked up a deck that can justify this card, been fun to mess around with.
