I met for the first time with a local group of ladies who make lace and they helped me so much the difference is night and day already

Some lace for you I really messed up the central diamonds somehow

Trying my hand at lace making this is quite addictive

Today I have learned that there’s a Nintendo Music app??? Time to inject the whole Splatoon soundtrack into my veins

The ones you can’t link get faded already, isn’t that enough of an indication?

110

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 06/08/2026

It should be this! Does it not work in that case?

100

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 23/07/2026

Oh wow Gleam folks are here as well!!

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 23/07/2026

I’ve set up my thermal printer to print me a little puzzle each morning, now this is some daily games I can get behind

Everyone in the Gleam Discord is talking about atproto and I'm feeling like this, deep in the compiler trenches

3823

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 17/07/2026

I've started mirroring my two biggest repos on @tangled.org, we'll see how it goes!

61115

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 14/07/2026

The fact Discord of all places got Gleam's syntax highlighting right before @github.com is killing me, GitHub is still blocked on a very old grammar and it's been impossible to review any test code using `assert`. Discord's on the left, GitHub's on the right.

Almost done!!! Those are gonna be the hardest 18 tests to fix of my life

4455

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 06/07/2026

Productive Monday after a slow weekend, there's still so many failing tests though 😭😂

A graph showing the number of failing tests going down over the days.
On June the 29th there were 456 failing tests.
On June the 30th there were 395,
On July the 1st there were 325,
On July the 2nd there were 274,
On July the 3rd there were 263,

Rewriting the Gleam to Erlang bits of the compiler, it's going great so far 🫪

Gleam is so small all of its keywords can neatly fit on a postcard... what better way to show it than printing actual Gleam postcards? 😁

5656

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 21/04/2026

This is well cool! I haven't written any Haskell in a long while, can a length depend on the value of a previous one like this?

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 21/04/2026

Binary pattern matching in BEAM languages feels like a super power, what do you mean this is all I need to parse a binary DNS packet??

816412

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 17/04/2026

Gleam being so small you could learn it in just a couple afternoons with the online language tour, give it a try! tour.gleam.run

0256

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 12/04/2026

Did you know that Gleam is so small that all of its keywords can neatly fit on a postcard? And only two thirds of those are actually used today

I'm so hyped for the Witch Hat Atelier anime to air tomorrow

I’m blinking 👁️👁️ giacomocavalieri.me/carrier-pigeon

A piece of receipt paper coming out of a thermal printer with the following lines printed:
“ciaoo”
“test”
“blink twice if this still works”
“time to make coffee”
“Booh!”
“print(“Hello, world!”)”
“Is this thing loud? does it disturb you when you work?”

This was a nice reminder from GitHub it also helped me figure out how to remove copilot entirely from the web UI 😇

Mail from GitHub saying: “Hi there,
We're updating how GitHub uses data to improve Al-powered coding tools. From April 24 onward, your interactions with GitHub Copilot-including inputs, outputs, code snippets, and associated context-may be used to train and enhance Al models unless you opt out.”

First ever Gleam powered e-reader? 👀

4606

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 17/03/2026

I made a little tool to help flash Gleam programs on devices running AtomVM. I think it's so cool you can run Gleam on such constrained esp devices!

4424

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 09/03/2026

I don't remember who suggested that, but if you block Claude on GitHub it will show a warning at the top of a repo if it contributed to it. That's great to set expectations when reading code

5243

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 03/03/2026

Bold of folks to assume this is even running a database! The only medium where the messages are stored is the receipt paper 😎

4544

Giacomo Cavalieri @giacomocavalieri.me · 02/03/2026

If you try and send me a message that's way too long you'll see a very surprised pigeon

This is going great already 😂
