idk about Stoat but Fluxer does plan on implementing federation eventually, meaning someone could join your self hosted instance with the same account they use in general. Who knows if that'll be optional or not.

000

ghuze @ghuze.space · 08/09/2026

as far as I recall, currently neither Stoat or Fluxer support federation, so by self hosting you are fully seperate from the main service. I know Stoat's client doesn't support variable servers so you need to recompile it to point at your self hosted instance.

Not surprising, I've always seen him as a pragmatic and, on the surface, the tech is just good. The ethical and environmental issues can't directly be seen and are easy to ignore. It'll be interesting to see what his take is when 95% the maintainers lose mastery and understanding of their code.

I think perhaps it's a bit taboo for men to address their loneliness in the typical patriarchal societies whereas women have more mainstream and socially acceptable ways to cope with it. But yeah, we out here braving the fire alone

a lot of those profits aren't actually realised. NVIDIA is selling chips to companies that have yet to make a single dollar of profit, so where does the money come from? Investments and other fund raising perhaps but eventually you have to pay back what you owe. There some number fuckery going on.

PC gaming has always been cheaper anyway when you consider the lower average price of games, even more so when you consider that most of us don't pay any type of subscription to play online

Wip networking mini rack I'm working on, goal is to have all of the essentials for running my home network in here: routing, DHCP DNS, etc.. All running on an N100 mini PC with a raspberry pi as a fallback. #homelab #networking

A mini 10 inch rack with a network switch and a mini PC with 4 nics and lots of loose cables.

Couldn’t agree more. I think the biggest downside to come from the transition of forums to discord is that so many troubleshooting threads are now hidden from the wider internet and search engines. Makes troubleshooting stuff harder than it should be.

000

ghuze @ghuze.space · 13/02/2026

My discord friends and I already agreed to run test rounds for several different apps. We’ll compile our thoughts and figure out the best option for a backup/migration. I encourage everyone else to do the same.

020

ghuze @ghuze.space · 13/02/2026

Looking back, expecting everyone to use discord and only discord is unhealthy. It’s elevating discord as a monopoly and that’s just bad for everyone. It may not sound great, but if the market is split between many options, it creates more competition and it’ll benefit the users.

ghuze @ghuze.space · 10/02/2026

Like I get what they are trying to do, but their entire strategy is to to make the pvm so rewarding that it’ll attract pvmers for the sole purpose of entertaining pkers. That design is just doomed to fail.

000

ghuze @ghuze.space · 10/02/2026

As someone who enjoys pretty much everything in the game except pvp, the wildy is this weird thing that can never please me, it’s just incompatible with my tastes. They keep trying to make it attractive to people like me and it always just ends up being the worst part of the game every time I go.

I’ve heard Stoat is pretty good but their sign ups are broken for some unknown reason…
