iOS and Android both route system traffic around active VPNs. Apple documents this in their own VPN terms of service. The operating system controls the app, the gateway, and the tunnel at once. When it decides to bypass the tunnel, your traffic goes out in the clear.

Your smartphone has three separate computers: the app layer you interact with, a baseband processor that handles cellular connections, and the SIM itself. The baseband and the SIM communicate without the app layer knowing. Carriers will not say what those messages contain.

Cell towers log your IMSI every time your phone moves into range. Your IMSI is a permanent unique identifier tied to your subscriber account. Carriers have a complete map of everywhere you have been. They sell it. Law enforcement buys it. That map predates any investigation.

The Nazis did not start with camps. They started with lists. Paragraph 175 had criminalised homosexuality since 1871. Police kept records of gay men for decades before Hitler took power. When he did, the lists already existed. They just changed what happened to the people on them.

Every messenger lets you turn on screenshot blocking. Signal does it. WhatsApp does it. Telegram does it. None of them stop the person you are talking to from screenshotting your messages. The block only works on your screen.
