I know I dog on FFXIV a lot, but it's frustrating how there's so many cool things they used to do that they just... Don't do anymore. It's frustrating knowing that they've got the juice but they refuse to serve it to you.

The boss arena of First Coil of Bahamut - Turn 1, a series of large hexagons at varying heights. Notably not a perfect circle or square arena.

The First Coil of Bahamut - Turn 1, after defeating a quick mini-boss the party enters a large open area with floating platforms leading up to the boss of the zone.

Final Coil of Bahamut, Turn 3 - The party must split up into two separate groups of four and fight mobs while activating a series of pressure pads before access to the boss fight opens up (the floating arena in the back of the room.)

Final Coil of Bahamut - Turn 1, the party must sneak (or fight) through a quick gauntlet of patrolling mobs before they can reach the boss arena. Sneaking is optimal, as alerting one of the patrols to your presence activates the glowing egg-like structures around the room and spawns adds the party must kill.

I think just as interesting was the response. I've never played a single Dragon's Dogma in my life, so this is not a comment on those games, but I wonder - Can you actually achieve this compromise without just making it worse for both types of players?

In the last two days, I have watched as the removal requests for this dataset skyrocketed, as more people discover by word-of-mouth that they've been included This is 4,000+ removal requests that didn't need to happen had this been handled responsibly from the start. Majority within the last 72hrs.

github repo for huggingface's "The Stack" showing over 4,000 open issues, nearly all of them are requests to "opt-out" (lmao) of this dataset.

From time to time, I'll hear the same bear roar, pottery break, or creaky door sound effects I've been noticing since the 90's and it's like seeing a celebrity cameo anytime they show up.

Samples, possibly unlicensed – I love all the samples that show up repeatedly in Llamasoft’s games. I feel like some of them are maybe unlicensed but clearly no one has said anything yet because they keep popping up. Build up a nice little library of sound effects and other assets that you keep throwing into your games and people can recognize. Folks get annoyed about asset reuse and they’re wrong and should be pushed into a volcano.
